Victoria hosts an Easter Monday metro meeting at Sandown and Billy Bestford has previewed the fives races on the card below.

Racing is on the Hillside course today, where the surface is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 10m.

We’ll be betting in Race 1, Race 3, Race 5, Race 6 and Race 8.

(2) Horrifying will be all the rage here and for good reason. He’s been running in some seriously strong races, and running well. Now finally drops back to maiden grade and should be able to take care of this lot today. Will strip fitter 2nd up, Kah jumps aboard and looks to be way too classy in a race like this. Has a 3rd to Crosshavend next to his name while he was last seen running well in a strong Bm70 after taking on the Sandown Guineas. Looks one of the best of the day.

(2) Mister Yu Shu comes into this since being a well supported favourite in a similar race last start, narrowly running 2nd. 3rd up now off the back of two minor placings and gets a claim to negate the heavy weight. Just query the drop back in trip slightly but will be the one running on late.

(7) Kalkarni Royale looks the class runner in this field and is a deserved favourite in a race like this. Has been competitive in much stronger races in town over her career, including a Creswick Stakes and the Geelong Black Pearl. The query will be she obviously hasn’t won for a while but this looks one of the more winnable races she has faced for a long time. Has won fresh in the past and gets the services of Jamie Kah. Think she will go very close today.

(4) Final Man looks a touch over the odds In my opinion. Generally performs best when first up from a spell and his best career runs would see him being right in the finish today. Obviously struggled last prep but before that was seen winning some good races ahead of the likes of Alburq and November Dreaming. Keen to have something on solely based on his price.

Pretty keen that (6) Sirileo Miss can continue her progression through the grades today. She was a massive winner last start in a bm64. After being three wide most of the trip, she then circled the field 4-5 wide around the turn and travelled into the race like a good horse, putting them away comfortably. It was one of the better wins of the day and she looks to have plenty of talent. Showed a nice turn of foot when asked for an effort can definitely get the job done again stepping up slightly to 1300m.

(9) Miss Inbetween drops well back in grade here after contesting some strong stakes races in town recently. Two 4th placings behind the likes of Chica Fuerte, Cumberbatch, Annavisto is nothing to laugh at who are all Saturday grade horses. Finds her right race today and Williams sticks. Don’t mind the drop back to 1300m, where she has won before and I think she looks a decent chance at an EW price.

No prizes for finding him but (5) Excelleration looks a horse with plenty of talent and a whole heap of upside. With just the three career starts, this horse looks to have a bright future and can successfully make the natural step into this grade today. Was an enormous win first up, putting a gap in his rivals in a few strides and probably expecting him to progress to Saturday grade after this. Will get back from the wide gate and will be rounding them up late.

(2) Killourney ran well in his Australian debut after a long break. Finished half a length behind Shandy who was a well supported favourite on Saturday at Caulfield and probably should’ve won there. Will only improve off that performance and is starting to get out to a more suitable trip now. He looks the one which they might all have to get past.
