(5) Maserartie Bay was dominant rising in trip 2nd up to win the Yarra Valley Cup. Is unbeaten over two starts at 2400m and is primed 3rd up for this. Stable are the best in the business at getting their stayers ready.

(6) Through Irish Eyes will enjoy a big drop in the weights for this and is ready to do something now 4th up from a spell.

(1) Steel Prince is the class horse here and is suited getting to 2400m now. Incredible record over this trip with 9 starts bringing 4 wins and 4 2nds. Drops out of WFA but I would have liked to see a bit more there.

Tip: (5) Maserartie Bay - $2.70 at TopSport

(7) Deepstrike was impressive bolting in last start. Rises in grade for this but is fit and flying and should see every favour in running today. Think he is ready to go on with it now.

(2) Playoffs last run over 2000m was a good 3rd behind Crystal Pegasus and Rousseau – both horses have since won. Clearly that stacks up well for this and I like him back in trip.

(4) Commander Harry closed from well last start and looks ready to win now. Like the setup of his prep having him ready for this.

(1) Five Kingdom is next best.

Odds Last Updated: April 9, 2022, 1:40pm (AEDT)

Little confidence here but will take a chance that (5) Splendiferous can be a big improver finally onto a dry deck. Makes the trip from Sydney in search of better ground and 3rd up now out to the mile I think he can give them something to catch.

(3) Comica is super consistent and the horse that ran her down last start has since run very well in the Bendigo Guineas. She puts herself on speed and always give a strong sight.

(1) Intellective drops in grade here off the back of a good run in the Country Mile Final. Gets in well at the weights after the apprentice claim.

(7) Vidiano 3rd is primed to run well.

Pretty keen on (8) Yowie who was a dominant winner on debut, letting down strongly and winning in good time. Form out of that race has been strong and I think he can get a similar run today from barrier 8. Extra 100m is no knock and plenty of upside about him.

(5) Sunzou has shown plenty at the jumpouts, winning two in easy fashion. He’s well bred and would expect he is right in the finish here.

(1) Cannonball was sent for an easy maiden kill first up at the midweeks. Straight to the front and never looked in trouble. Expect similar tactics here and he’s promising.

Odds Last Updated: April 9, 2022, 2:59pm (AEDT)

(13) Embeller comes down from Sydney in search of dry tracks and I think she’s a massive chance. Good run last start in a strong 72 in Sydney. Will be forward enough from barrier 3 and gets a nice drop in weights here.

Honestly think (12) Private Cheetah can run a race at odds. Having first start for new stable since moving from QLD and will roll forward and think he is better than what his form has shown.

Up to 1100m a big plus for (3) Yulong Defence and last time he was at this track/trip he was beaten less than a length by In The Boat.

(2) Hypersonic brings winning form into this and was dominant in weaker grade. Fitter and looks to have come back in top order.

(1) Mynumerouno just doesn’t run a bad race and has now won four on the trot. 5 wins from 6 career starts and he is just so genuine. 3rd up now he is hard fit and while he’s getting up in the weights he is just a chance which knows how to find the line. He’ll be right in the finish.

(8) Hunnam is a crazy price. He’s started single figures in tougher races than this and has been a winner here at this track previously. He’s much better suited 2nd up following a long spell and will take a heap of improvement from the fresh run. I think he runs well above his price.

(4) New York Baby is a good fresh horse and started single figures against Espiona at the end of last prep.

(3) Scissor Step should have gone close to beating Mynumerouno fresh last prep and no doubt he’s right up to this.

(8) Adele Armour was hammered in betting first up and started even money against Belle Savoir. Was a bit plain there with every chance and will need to improve to turn tables however out to 1400m suits and gets a nice drop in the weights. Had jumped out really well leading into that.

(2) Maracana can run well here 2nd up. She’s lightly raced and gets blinkers on for the first time today. This is much easier.

(3) Belle Savoir beat a good field fresh and looks to have come back very well. She’s now 2/2 and is lightly raced with the best of her still to come. I’m against her at the price.

(5) Sonnara is on the up and while this is toughest test to date she brings career best form into it. Will be up on speed from the inside draw and sure to give a sight now hard fit.

(4) Arkita had a heart issue last start so best to be forgiving off that run. Was simply dominant in first two career starts and form out of the races has been solid. Can hit back now.

(6) Aintnodeeldun was very good closing off the race fresh. Back to a bm84 he looks well in at the weights and is much better suited rising in trip. Has a win over the mile to his name and is sure to be a big improver.

(3) Zaratite is a proper horse. He’s finished in the quinella a ridiclius 13 out of 14 career starts. He returns here for a new stable and off a long spell so I’m thinking he may need the run. Watch the market with him.

Can’t knock (11) It’s Tornado Storm who is absolutely flying and won well over a strong field at Mornington last start. Wide draw suits and he can have the last crack at them.

(7) Think n Fly has had a few things against this prep but continues to run well. He’s due some luck.

(11) Paperboy is ready to win now following a couple of big runs from back in the field. Was good dropping to 1200m last start but better suited out to this trip now and gate 7 is perfect for him. Flying at the minute and a win looks mighty close.

(7) Old Flame had plenty of people riding him on his Aus debut and he helped out punters there. Clearly is very talented but he looked to be labouring there late.

(16) Able Willie gets to 1400m for the first time and you have to trust the placement of the stable. Has always started well in the market and can improve here.

(9) Beehunter will get back and storm home as he usually does. Wasn’t far off Paperboy last start.

(3) Kinane has really struggled since being once touted as the next big thing. I don’t doubt the talent is still there however and might be ready to bounce back this prep.

Tip: (11) Paperboy - $4.85 at Boombet

Betting Strategy: 1.5u WIN Paperboy

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
