Hawkesbury Racing Tips: Thursday, August 19th

The listed Rowley Mile headlines a good day of racing and Billy Bestford brings you his best bets on the card.

It’s a cracking Thursday meeting at Hawkesbury with a very strong 8-race card as we build up towards a big weekend of racing. Today’s card is headlined by the listed Rowley Mile which has attracted a high-quality field and comes up in Race 7.

The track is in perfect order, currently rated a Good 4 with the rail in the true.

Billy Bestford has previewed a couple of races today and has found a few horses he is keen to back.

Really liked what I’ve seen from (5) Tycoon Hallie at the trials as she resumes for her 2nd prep. She showed good signs early on before a stable change and was last seen running down the track in a strong G3. I think she looks well suited back to this level and expect Brad Widdup to have her firing.

(6) Pacheco did all but win on debut, being beaten by the slimmest of margins over 1100m at Scone. Was well backed that day and now finds Bowman. Big chance.

Hard not to have been impressed with the debut performance of (4) Flying Crazy who came from the clouds to win over this trip on the Kenso track a couple of weeks ago. He ran some very hot sectionals there and I think he’s got some X factor and can win again today.

(6) Conrad looks hardest to beat and showed plenty of ability in debut prep. Started $3.70 in a G3 against the likes of Saif and Converge so you have to respect that. Should be much improved into his 2nd prep and Jmac jumps aboard today.

(1) A Very Fine Red is another lightly raced horse with upside. Stable has taken their time with her and spaced runs. She’s once again been kept fresh for this and all trial form shows she looks ready to go.

Highlight race of the day comes up here and I’m keen on (6) Riodini to return to form 3rd up from a spell. Think they’ve been riding him upside this prep while he ran some of the quickest closing splits all day last start. Last prep he finished 3rd in the Epsom when 3rd up so he clearly has the class to win this. Hoping they can be more positive today and should be ready to win.

(3) Kukeracha looks hardest to beat and resumes today following a successful prep last time in work. He was last seen winning the G1 QLD Derby so back to this level he’s clearly going to be right in the finish. Probably aimed at higher targets however.

(12) Invinciano looks ready for the mile and his prep has been building nicely. Was only beaten late last start by a horse in good form and she should able to sit up off the speed and give a good sight.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
