Really interesting runner having its first start in WA today in the form of (1) Campese for Michael Lane and Chris Parnham. Formerly with Archie Alexander in Victoria, he won twice at Moonee Valley and Bendigo. His best form would clearly make him the horse to beat here and I thought he showed good improvement from his first trial to his second trial. That last trial was behind London Miss, who is a good horse in her own right, and they pulled well clear of the rest of the field. Michael Lane wouldn’t be bringing a team of horses to Northam on a Thursday if he wasn’t a chance of winning one, and I think this is his best chance.

(10) Little Flirt might be the value at $9.00. She bolted in to win a No-Metro-Wins race at Belmont last start and was competitive in this class prior to that. Handles the wet and should be peaking third up, looks a touch over the odds.

(5) Time Scale has had six starts this preparation for a win and five placings. Draws well and gets a nice claim for Holly Watson so will be right in the finish once again.

(1) Prince Devoutly showed a stack of ability as a young horse but clearly had problems last prep. He returned from a 21-week spell with a good effort behind Ohbeeh at Belmont and stepping up to 1400m second up today should see him hard to beat.

(3) Spookwood is going super this prep. Ran home strongly first up, won easily here second up and then ran 2nd to Miss Maranta last time out. Miss Maranta then ran well in Saturday company and I think it’s a very solid formline. Looks the clear value at double figure odds Spookwood.

(6) Rosso Tempesta ran well first up behind Sentimental Hero, who then came out and won again in Saturday grade. Has a good second up record so worth saving on him here.

I’ll be backing the two at better prices and saving on the favourite.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
