Hoping to get the cash nice and early today with (1) Yearning who resumes following a handy debut prep. She’s obviously still a maiden but was only narrowly beaten on debut by Ashema and then followed that up with a very good run in the G2 Percy Sykes Stakes, finishing 5th. Recent trials have been good and she looks a filly with untapped ability. 

(5) California Surreal was good on debut behind a smart one and was quickly spelled following that. She’s been ticking over nicely at the trials and will run well at an EW price.

(8) Money From The Sky is the new blood and has been well supported in early markets. Trials have been good leading into this, especially the first of those where he made up good ground without being let off the bridle. He looks as if he might get better over further but will be a big market watch closer to jump. I think he can win.

(2) Devil’s Throat looks ready to produce a peak performance having his 3rd career start. Has only improved in the two runs we’ve seen of him and looked home for all money last start before being nabbed late by a horse who looks above average. 

(3) Greater Harlem probably the class horse of the field on exposed form, finishing 2nd on debut behind Overpass before tackling a strong 2yo race behind the likes of Overmann and Volcanic Rock. Jmac jumps off Devil’s Throat to ride.

I think (7) Akihiro is a very good chance here in an open race. Flew home fresh from no where to just miss and the form around him as a 2yo is as elite as you’ll find. Finished 2nd on debut in the Victory Vein behind Captivant, beating home She’s All Class and then finished 5th behind Stay Inside in the Pierro. Admitedly he can mix his form but I think at $7.50+ he is worth a gamble. Jmac takes a rare ride for the Portelli stable which is also pretty good lead.

(6) Finally Realise was a big winner this track last time out , beating a handy horse in Sepoy Star. Will carry no weight after the claim for Brock Ryan and should get run of the race stuff.

(4) Super Effort should be ready to fire third up and is always competitive in this grade.  Has been airborne so far this prep. 

(2) He’s A Hotshot drops back in grade after tackling tougher races than this his last couple and can bounce back now.

(9) Billiondollarbaby is a very exciting filly who notched two straight wins to start her career in fine style. She looked to hardly find top gear in either of those wins so I think there is still plenty to come from her this prep and she should be much improved now. Bowman has been riding her at the trials and was on her for the last start win so he knows the horse well. She gets in well at the weights, draws softly in gate 2 and should be able to go straight to the lead and I’m confident she will be winning again.

(2) Miss Baltimore goes in search of four straight wins and you can’t knock anything she’s done this prep. Keeps measuring up and deserves a crack in this grade.

(5) Hyannis Port looks a good value chance and should be a big improver back onto a dry track now. 2nd up record is good and will be saving on her.

(6) Bazooka is ready to win following a string of minor placings in handy Saturday races. Was once again doing his best work late over this trip last start and the form behind Yiyi and Gemmahra looks strong.

(1) Kutayha was rolled as an odds-on fav here last start following strong market support on the day. He got too far back there but loves racing here and should be able to be more positive from the draw today. 

(3) Dream Runner has a likeable career record and rarely runs a poor race. Can measure up here and gets the services of Berry.

With the scratching of Bazooka, Kutayha goes on top in a no-bet race.

Hard to miss the run of (9) Bob’s Your Uncle last start when well supported before finishing a narrow 2nd to Matowatakpe over a shorter trip. That horse has since won again and is absolutely airborne at the moment. Yes to 1600 now and just needs to repeat that run to go close again. 

I don’t mind (5) Kuzco Lad on the quick backup following his first run in Sydney last week. Stuck on well for fourth and getting up in trip now should suit. Obviously needs luck from the draw but should roll forward.

(1) Favreau resumes with blinkers coming off and a massive drop in grade now. He was last seen finishing 3rd over 2800m on Anzac Day so these might be a bit sharp for him. 

(7) Command King brings winning form into this and is still very lightly raced. 3 wins from 8 career starts and only missed the trifecta once tells you he is talented. 

The chances probably don’t end there in what looks the toughest of the day.

(8) Miss Dior looks ready to win. She’s been running well this prep, and was starting a similar price as she is today in a strong Saturday race last time out. Blocked for room there and finished 4th and I like her stepping out to 1100m . The dry track suits and she’s drawn for every favour. I think the favourite is talented but trials haven’t been anything to get excited about and I’m happy to take Miss Dior on a price perspective with race fitness on her side. 

(13) Jojo Was A Man was well fancied on his debut and saluted comfortably at this track. Then went under as favourite at 2nd career start but it’s clear this horse is good. Personally I would’ve liked to have seen more at the trials and happy to be against.

(10) Escape Artist clearly had just been looking for a dry track after a slashing 2nd from the back of the field behind Nags To Riches this track/trip two weeks ago. Will be flying home late yet again.
