Think this is a great clash over 2060m and pretty confident the favourites fight it out. I’ve been waiting for (7) Through Irish Eyes to get to 2000m after being left flat footed at The Valley last start. His last 200m was easily the fastest of the race and he’s crying out for the longer trip.

(5) Goondiwindi is the favourite coming off a strong debut over 1600m at Pakenham. He’s clearly going to appreciate the extra trip and he did start favourite in that race, with the winner since running 3^rd in a good bm64.

At the prices I’m leaning Through Irish Eyes, but I think they’ll really put a space on the rest of the field.

(3) Cliffs Of Belaura has jumped out very well for the in-form McArdle stable. She’s unbeaten first up which is a scary stat, and although I think she’s probably better with a bit of give she’s a leading chance.

(5) The General looks a decent price, back to Cranbourne. His record at this T/D is very good, the only defeat where he started $1.70 in a very similar race and did have excuses that night. Forgiving the first up run down the straight which didn’t suit, and I’d expect them to be ultra-aggressive from barrier 2 to find the front.

Confident (3) Cuban State can win again and make it 2/2. In hindsight the $15 on debut was a big price given it was a maiden and he was Currie for McEvoy, a formidable combo. He worked to the front there and held them quite easily in the end to win by 1.8L. The 4^th horse there has since bolted in as $1.30 favourite and is very well respected tomorrow at The Valley. Mcneil takes the ride which is no knock, he draws perfectly in 3 and should be hard to beat again.

Trent Crebbin

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
