(5) Verne sparks interest making his debut after plenty of lead up trials before today. He’s shown very good ability across all 5 of his trials, winning one and placing in three others. Tommy Berry has been booked to ride and the Neasham stable is airborne at the moment. Think this horse could have some X factor about him.

(7) Prasiolite has race experience to her name and that looks a nice positive in a race like this. She ran a solid 4th before being put away and resumes off the back of a couple of decent trials.

(3) In The Congo is another who has impressed at the trials and looks to have talent. Looks to have plenty of speed and will probably be the one they’ll need to catch.

Tip: (5) Verne - $2.90 at Bet365

Betting Strategy: 1 unit WIN Verne

(3) Lillium has come back in good order this prep and is still trending in the right direction. Looks very well suited 3rd up and out to this trip for the first time in her career. Is still only lightly raced and looks to have plenty of upside. Happy to back her at the price.

(1) Faschanel is a proven performer in these types of races and comes into this off the back of a good win over this track/trip. Expect him to roll straight to the front from the low draw and Jmac to ride is never a negative. Happy to oppose with the jump up in weight and from a price perspective.

(8) Miss Spiteful is on the quick backup from last Wedesday, after she finished 5th over 1100m. Not sure she really enjoyed the wet track there and keen to see if she can improve on top of the ground.

Tip: (3) Lillium - $7.00 at Sportsbet

(5) Imposing Beau can handle the step into benchmark grade here today. Was super impressive on debut, when a short price favourite. Went forward and never looked like being beaten. Should only improve off that, gets the gun draw with Berry to ride and can make it two wins to start his career.

(6) Escape Artist is always likely to run a good race when fresh. Has been trialling well and is still very lightly raced. Been competitive in these sorts of races before.

(1) Osamu can no longer carry the tag of the best maiden going around after finally breaking through at start 13. Had been thrown in the deep end for many of those 13 starts, going around in black type races. That win may have been the turning point and can go on with it now.

(4) Bethencourt looks ready to win 2nd up. Love seeing him get back on top of the ground here after a decent return on a heavy track over a much shorter trip. Pretty keen to see him out to this sort of distance range and has been a winner 2nd up in the past before. Always shown talent and this looks very winnable.

(6) Kutayha is another who will be a big improver back onto a dry deck. Ran very well on his less-preferred heavy surface when first up and should enjoy every favour from the middle alley. Always performs better with a run under his belt and should go close.

(2) Acrophobic is the class horse of the race and looks much more suited back to this level today. Finished down the track in a hot race at Hawkesbury behind Exoboom and should be nearing peak fitness 4th up.

Tip: (4) Bethencourt - $4.20 at Bet365

Happy to side with (6) Too Much Caviar here on the back of a dominant last start win. He has to make the jump from maiden to bm66 grade but I think he has the ability to do so. The further the race went, the further he went in front last start and should eat up the 1550m today. Will go straight to the front and will take some running down.

(4) Green Flash is the obvious threat coming off the back of a very good closing 2nd behind the smart Grace And Harmony. That was his first go at this trip and will only take improvement from it. Will be winding up late but just not sure how much of a lead he will be spotting his main rival.

Tip: (6) Too Much Caviar - $4.60 at Ladbrokes

(6) Zell looks a decent chance in a fairly open race. Was good fresh over a trip short of of his best and looks very well suited getting to 1300m where he has been a winner before. Liked the first up run and can go straight to lead with a good claim on his back and give them something to catch.

(4) Olympic Legend is a Kenso track specialist and looks to have come back in very good order. He beat a pretty handy field there fresh and should be up to sit just in behind the speed and present at the right time.

(5) Wairere Falls hasn’t won for a while but is always competitive first up from a spell. Has run well in stronger races than this and has had success around the kenso circuit.

(10) Katalin was last seen tackling some strong races down in Victoria before being put away for a lengthy spell. This is his first start for over a year so while she clearly has the class to win, I can’t get near her around the current $3.

(6) Stoltz deserves a crack at this level after a very good win first up at Wyong. Will only improve off the back of that and was very strong to the line. Handles all conditions and as mentioned earlier, you can’t count out anything from the Neasham stable at the moment.

(9) Miss Fox has looked the goods at a couple of recent trials and absolutely flies when 1st up. All signs point towards a very good performance today and looks the likey leader from barrier 2. Tim Clark is the best in biz on these front-running types and keen to have something on him today.

(7) Time For Victory is flying having not missed the quinella in his last four starts. Bolted in last start on a heavy Hawkesbury track but could be coming towards the end of his prep?

Couldn’t split two of them in a tough closer so happy to play small on both for a result.

Tip: (6) Stoltz - $7.00 at Sportsbet

Also Backing: (9) Miss Fox - $7.50 at Ladbrokes

Betting Strategy: 0.5 unit WIN Stoltz, 0.5 unit WIN Miss Fox

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
