Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, June 12th

Tough 2yo race to start the day with eight of them all last start winners. I was with (6) Sacred Field on debut after some very handy trials and he did enough to suggest he will only be better for that run. Keen to see him jump from the inside draw and will enjoy getting out to 1200m. Happy to stick with him here 2nd up. 

(4) Verne showed great improvement to win at his 2nd career start last time out and will appreciate stepping out to 1200m. Looks a horse with a heap of upside and the stable is absolutely airborne. 

(3) In The Congo beat Verne on debut and has plenty of speed to burn. Looks the likely leader and like many of these, will only improve off the debut.

Another Saturday and yet another extremely open Highway. Unsurprisingly a capacity field and $6.50 favourite says all you need to know. I’ll side with (13) Sharlie as some value who comes into this after a 7L demolition job at Wodonga. Maps for the gun run and can fill a hole here. 

(15) Tipping Point made good ground a couple of weeks ago in a Highway to finish a couple lengths from the winner. Has ability and will be strong late once again. 

(11) Charvet is flying, with two good wins and a 2nd in her three runs this prep. Should be at peak fitness and I don’t mind her getting out to 1500m. 

(10) Cecilia maps for a good run in transit and has been competitive in these sorts of Highways.

Don’t mind (10) Our Bellagio Miss at an each way price here. Looks fairly open and this horse has been flying at the trials. Ran some good races in these sorts of fields last time in work and will love the sting out of the ground. Gets well down in the weights with a 3kg claim for Reece Jones who has been riding well and is a winner his only start here at Randwick. 

(11) Ice In Vancouver clearly is the horse with most upside in the race. Has won 3 of 4 career starts and only fail came when he had excuses in The Kosciusko. Was dominant fresh and loves this 1000m trip. A heavy track is some query. 

(2) Malkovich was somehow run down last start over 1100m after looking home. Has been a winner 2nd up previously and will only take fitness improvement out of that run. Will give them something to catch again today.

(7) Gravina absolutely bolted in last start in a bm72 here two weeks ago. That was one of the more impressive wins of the day and should improve from that. Still lighty raced and looks well suited once again here. 

(2) Belluci Babe has been flying and was huge last start behind Lillemor and Malkovich. Looks perfectly suited to 1200m today and will be winding up once again late. 

(6) Brazen Gem flies fresh and has been ticking over well at the trials. Looks the blowout chance.

(4) Zing looks the obvious threat, running a good 3rd last start in a tight finish. That followed a flashing 3rd when fresh, running some strong late splits and now looks ready for the mile. 2/2 3rd up and looks primed to win. 

(5) La Chevalee is ready to win now after two very good 2nds this prep down in Victoria. Loves the sting out of the track, will go forward and be hard to catch today. The 1L 2nd to Kurabui looks strong form. Just needs to handle her first run in Sydney.

(11) Brutality should prove hard to beat here after producing some strong performances this prep. Only narrowly beaten in his previous two and absolutely loves the wet. The form around Brandenburg and Nudge is very good. 

I really liked the return of (2) Order Again and he will only be better getting onto these conditions. Is a proven performer 2nd up and but just needs to bring the form to Randwick. 

(7) Kirwan’s Lane was a good fresh run before beating Ellsberg over 1500m. That horse now starts well in the market in a strong race in Queensland today. Still is improving this prep and can win again.

(5) Adelong was building strongly this prep and was rewarded with a strong win this track/trip last start. Loves it here at Randwick and has a very good record over 1100m. This race looks no tougher than he faced last time out and should be rock hard fit and hard to run down. 

(7) Wandabaa looks close to winning one and was taking ground off Adelong here last start. Enjoys the sting out and maps for a nice run in behind the speed. Should be closing off late. 

(12) Surreal Step has been promising something this prep and looks ready to run a big race 3rd up. Went very close to winning last start but just needs to bring that form to Randwick.

(3) Grand Piano was enormous last time out at Eagle Farm, putting in his best performance for a while when almost running down the smart Profit. Looks ready to peak 3rd up and I think he will run a race. Maps for a nice run in transit and has been a winner here in the past. 

(12) Mirra Vision looks a good winning chance, especially if the track has dried out by this part of the day. He won’t want it too wet but was well supported 1st up and won. Takes a step up in grade but looks up to these. 

Hard to knock (8) Dream Circle on his current form. Continues to measure up and loves this track/trip.

We’ve got to wait all day but keen that (10) Blondeau is one of the better bets on the card today. Was keen on him last start at a short price and while he didn’t win, the run was a lot better than it looks on paper. He came on the fastest last 600m of the entire meeting that day and looks suited getting to 1400m 3rd up from a spell. 

(5) Canasta is the main danger and will appreeciate any track upgrades throughout the day. Was only narrowly beaten fresh by Dream Circle (runs in race 8) and is a strong 2nd up performer. 

(7) Criminal Code was an eye-catcher when resuming, running some of the best late splits of the meeting. He looks to have improved since last prep and looks the knockout chance.
