(1) Angerstein looks a touch of overs compared to the favourite. I liked the run first up at Yarra Valley behind Signorina and Akaka Falls, who both brought very strong city maiden form. He boxed on well there and the extra 105m will suit. 2nd up last prep he was 1L off Gutsy, who has been competitive in decent metro bm64 races all prep.

(8) Arroance is the obvious and racing well. The run behind Canadian Gold two back reads well and this looks a good race for her to break through with a nice map, I just thought $1.95 was a bit skinny.

Confident the winner comes from the two mentioned, siding with the toppy at the odds.

Very tough. (3) Ikara was awful on debut last prep in a strong race on soft ground, before a stronger effort at Geelong. Lane goes on first up off a pleasing jumpout and he should run well.

(8) Sweet Sixteen is another resuming. The 4th to Pretty Rossa & Miss Inbetween at the end of last prep reads well, and she’s been given plenty of time. She’s been well backed early.

(2) Fac trialled satisfactorily in strong open company and should be respected on debut.

(4) Lyrical Lad can improve up in trip off an okay debut over 1000m.

If you’re looking for something at odds, Fac can run well on debut, but with too many unknown I’m happy to sit this out.

(1) El Rocko was no match for Artorius on debut which is obviously very strong form for a maiden. He still beat home some very handy 2yo’s and has jumped out well. The stable is flying and if he goes forward he should be hard to beat.

(3) Prince Amongst Men was solid first up behind Crystal Bound, who demolished the field. Not sure how strong the form was behind the winner but the clockwise classic run at Ballarat reads okay for this. 1200m could suit and he’s an obvious chance.

(8) Tametomo started $2.50 on debut and was well held, clearly wanting further than 1000m. Moor riding is some knock, with Lane on for Godolphin and Dee on the stablemate.

(10) Bidding is the stablemate with Dee aboard (although he is double booked at the time of writing) and she’s jumped out very well for her debut.

(6) Lindhout was very impressive on debut back in October in a deep maiden. She jumped very awkwardly, lost 2-3L at the start and was quite green in the straight but once she knuckled down, she went straight past them to win comfortably. The form out of that race has been good and with even luck off an easy jumpout win she should be hard to beat.

(5) Florescent Star was solid at Mornington last start when forced wide on the turn, battling on well for 3rd. The two wins prior were good and she’s an obvious danger.

(2) Cliffs Of Belaura was good late first up over 1000m and looks better suited up in trip here. Last prep she ran 2nd to The Gauch when 2nd up which is strong form.

They look the obvious winning chances, but Lindhout looks to be very talented and should go close.

(2) Magnetism looks a good chance. He was no match for Captain Spud last start, with that horse winning at Caulfield on Saturday. The start prior he finished midfield behind Prince Of Helena which is also relatively strong form. This is the weakest race he’s contested in a while and D Lane takes the ride from barrier 6.

(7) Zoutellus was a good maiden winner two back at Pakenham but failed on All Star Mile day in a brutally run race on a wet track, which he apparently didn’t handle. Off a freshen and back to 1400m he can bounce back to form.

(4) Obi has missed the placings both attempts at 1400m but was good first up behind The Billionaire which is solid form. He’s had 6 weeks between runs and is up in trip which is a query.

(6) Warrior Woman has been backed early and can run a nice race fresh despite being better over further.

I’d be shocked if Magnetism isn’t in the finish at an each way price.

Happy to side with the map horse in (5) Mr Roger who looks to either lead or sit outside. Both runs this prep have been very solid, the latest at Pakenham when just run down late, with a huge gap back to 3rd. He did break his maiden in emphatic fashion when 3rd up last prep and the booking of Mcneil is significant.

(4) Miletus was solid first up at 1400m and will improve up in trip. He looks to have come back well but likely gets back and will give Mr Roger a fair head start.

(2) Boss’n The Moss is the other leader in the race and was a winner first up with 63kg in bm58 grade. This is a step up and he looks short enough give that fact.

He might be well and truly past his best as a 10yo, but I’m going to have something on (3) Pharrell who I have only backed once in my life, which was at this track and distance. His record of 3 wins from 4 starts at the Sale 2200m is quite astounding given he’s only won 9 from 82. Even with his record, I can’t imagine there will be much support for him because he’s just battling away, but in an incredibly open race I could have something on him at a big price.

(2) Green Ivy is racing well and was given a good ride to win at The Valley last start. He does look to get a great map again.

(1) Coin Collector drops back in trip slightly but really struggles to win. He’ll run well again

but looks short enough as favourite.

Backing Pharrell, but I think you’ll get a bigger price on betfair despite his record at the T/D.

Tough finish. (8) Quietly Discreet was solid first up when settling midfield and did loom as the winner but peaked on her run. That’s backed up by the sectionals- she was the fastest 600-400m split, a very narrow 2nd fastest 400-200m split, but the 4th fastest last 200m. She generally likes to lead and should be sent forward from the wide gate and did bolt in 2nd up last prep. Loses J Kah, but she should be hard to beat.

(10) Peskijen won on debut last prep and was consistently around the mark in similar races after that. She’s jumped out well and should settle on speed from barrier 2.

(7) Archipeta Beach won at Kyneton first up in bm58 grade. The 1200m is some query but the stable is flying.

(6) Peidra is certainly good enough on talent but hasn’t had a whole lot of racing and is coming off a long break.

Tip: (8) Quietly Discreet- $2.50 at TAB

Betting Strategy: 2 units WIN Quietly Discreet

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
