Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, March 9th

(9) Glint Of Hope should find this a fair bit easier than some of the black type she was contesting towards the end of last prep. No doubt she will improver getting out in trip but she has run well early last prep over these sprint trips. She is still a maiden but went very close on a number of occasions when last in work. She was placed in the Ethereal Stakes and the Edward Manifold so she’s clearly well placed back to midweek maiden grade. 

I think (4) British Colombia will be suited rising to 1400m and showed nice improvement at fresh run. Will map forward from a low draw and I think he will be winning a race this prep. 

(6) Matzukaze will have fans after a narrow defeat here two weeks ago. Has improved with each run now and rising to the 1400 looks ideal. With race fitness on his side and Willo sticking for the ride I think he will give a good sight yet again. 

(5) Kaliuwaa Falls was beaten by a promising one last start and should get every chance today from the middle draw.

This looks a pretty strong C1 and I’ll put (6) Tobaysure on top who looks a promising horse for Phillip Stokes. Absolutely bolted in maiden grade last start and this looks a straight forward rise in grade. Goes forward from the gate and I think if Prebble can slot in with cover this horse will do the rest. 

(10) Titan Of Choice is ready to win again and this possibly looks a touch easier than the last couple races he’s been contesting. Started a $2.80 favourite last time in this grade so the $10 at the moment looks big. 

(4) Jester is on the up and broke through for a good maiden win last start, That backed up a nice debut performance and looks ready for 1400 now following those two runs over the shorter trip. That was an arrogant win there last start and he can go on with it.

Value: (10) Titan Of Choice - $10 at TAB

(3) Wellsford on top here in a wide open 3000m test for the stayers. Was very good once again last start over this trip beaten less than a length in this grade. A repeat of that run goes very close here and unliked many of these, he has been in winning form this prep. 

(4) Rider In The Snow is a touch outclassed here but in a wide open race I don’t think he’s the worst chance. 3000m is his go, winning both starts over this trip. No doubt he has to improve off previous efforts but wouldn’t shock to see him regain some form here. 

(2) Convict Sam was a tad disappointing last start when well-backed on the day and no real excuses in running. He’s at peak fitness now though and looks ready to tackle this longer trip. 

(1) Budd Fox is next best and is a proven stayer.

(2) Madame Du Gast was desperately unlucky not to win last start when held up at a key time in the straight. Once clear she charged to the line and looks ideally placed to 1400m now. She’s on the up and I think Sandown suits compared to Pakenham.

(11) Wrote To Arataki looked impressive winning her maiden last time out. Reeled them in in a matter of strides there and she can go on with it now.

(9) My Whisper ran down All She Wrote first up and I think that horse is above average. Jamie Kah takes over today and no doubt she’ll have this horse in a stalking position and will charge late.

(3) Stern Impulse was a good 3rd behind a couple of handy ones fresh and that form has continued to stack up.

Tip: (2) Madam Du Gast - $3.60 at Moneyball

It was an incredibly soft win first up for (10) Inverell who looks to have come back a very smart horse. Was very good at jumpouts leading into that run and looks to have put it together now. Love him jumping up the mile now and Kah sticks from a good draw. Even luck and he just wins.

Back to 1600 suits for (6) Hasseltoff and while he doesn’t win out of turn, a repeat run of last start would see him go very close here. The horse that beat him there looks smart. No doubt he will be running on late.

(4) Pal D’oro is ultra consistent and is rarely out of the money everytime he goes around. If he handles the trip then he is right in this.

(7) Jaffastock is improving with each run this prep and gets a deserved crack in this garde.

I’ll put (6) More Secrets on top here in an interesting race. This horse started $2.40 favourite in a bm70 last prep and should have won. Then went to a stakes race and finished less than 2L off Dirty Work and La Mexicana. Wide draw here suits as she needs plenty of room to move. As long as they can make ground she looks overs.

(10) Sparring had plenty of hype surround his first start in a 900m Albury maiden. He lived up to it running rapid time and bolting in. Big step going from that to this but clearly he is talented and could be anything. He’s a big watch but happy to let him go round as favourite.

(9) Midnight Charm was a huge market drifter on debut but defied that to win easily. That was a nice performance and had trialled up well leading into that. Kah sticks.

(13) No Crying looks the one at double figures who might be able to spring an upset.

Tip: (6) More Secrets - $6.50 at Sportsbet

(1) Takumi looks a big price dropping back in grade and is super honest. Gets a claim to offset the weight and the horse which only just beat him in the Colac Cup has since won the Launceston Cup. Can be close enough from barrier 5 and should run well at a price.

(4) Austrata 3rd up to 1800m now looks a perfect recipe for success. 1/1 over this trip and has a good record here at Sandown. Is a winner 3rd up previously and should see every favour with Oli on from a good draw.

(5) Santero is airborne and was beaten by a very smart one in Castlereagh Kid last start. Will be charging home once again.

(12) Gonnadancealot should be ready to do something now 3rd up and rising to a suited trip. Will be up on speed and could improve.

(6) Flandersrain is back in a more suitable race here and her record is very strong over the mile. Think you can be forgiving of last couple of perofrmances and if she regains her best she will be going close.

(13) Rumbled Again just keeps measuring up and working her way through the grades. She’s clearly got a lot more upside than most of these.

Best to be forgiving of (14) Fighting Arrow last start at Flem. Little freshen up and back in trip suits. Was going very well leading up prior.

(7) New Choice next best.

Tip: (6) Flandersrain - $5.50 at Moneyball

(10) The Garden will be a much better horse going around a bend here. Got a bit lost up the straight last start where Rose Quartz was too good for him. That form has measured up and I think he is ready to peak now with two good runs under the belt. 1/1 over 1400m and this is a far easier race than what he’s tackled this prep.

(14) Rapid Achiever is the obvious threat. Is now three wins from four starts and the first up run was very impressive. Ran time there and she’s proved that she will only get better over further.

(1) Think ‘n’ Fly could be the horse to knock off the favourites and was well-backed 2nd up. Was a bit keen in the run there but it was an improved performance and did well to stick on for 3rd. Very good record 3rd up and could be primed to win now.

(4) Eluding is flying and no knock on that last start win. Draws to get a nice forward run again and will probably take some running down.
