(3) Russian Mint looks to be speedy and draws low here today. Has won two jumpouts leading into debut today and I think he could be pretty smart. Expect he can land prominent in the run and will be tough to get past. This looks a hot maiden but this horse has a heap of upside and I like how he maps.

(2) Breaking Ground has been given a quiet time of it at a couple of recent trials and has looked good. Expect a forward showing on debut here.

(4) Shambo comes through some jump outs which have produced some recent winners and he is right up to this by the looks of things.

(12) Yaltara looks another strong winning chance for an in-form stable.

(4) State Squad has been building nicely this prep and a win looks very close. The horse he nearly beat last start looks above average and I really like him stepping up to 2400m off the back of that. Only career win came when 3rd up last prep.

(5) Teofilo Star will lead them up again and will be fitter for the last start effort. Still only lightly raced and probably yet to reach his ceiling.

(6) Eaton drops in grade for this and is as genuine as they come. Doesn’t know how to run a poor race and the form around Witchita Star looks better every week.

(8) Sound Of Cannons comes to Victoria and that might be the change he needs to finally notch another win.

(10) Romany Rocks is still lightly raced and think she has some class about her. She’d jumped out well leading into the fresh run but was caught wide. Map again looks sticky here but out to 1300m a big plus. The price seems fair enough and her best form is better than 64 grade.

Really liked the run of (14) Wine I Am 2nd up and showed a stack of improvement having first run in Melbourne. Not sure where he gets to from gate 1 but Willo taking over is a positive. Looks the value.

(1) Blistering drops out of open grade and off the back of her last two runs she should be hard to beat.

(5) Ojosan ran 2nd to Red Hot Nicc last start and that form looks pretty strong. 3rd up now and out in trip is a good setup for her.

(8) Miss Middle Park has been freshened and usually races best first up. Super consistent and jumped out well leading into this.

(1) Sniper Legend was a really nice return when just missing an in-form horse. 2nd up he is sure to improve off that and is a winner at only run at this track/trip. He was a nose off beating Midwest last prep so clearly is good enough for something like this.

Also going to have something on (9) Burum who resumes from a long break. Was dominant winning on debut and quickly spelled by the stable. Has had some issues but a recent jump out was as dominant as you will see. How good?

(2) Super Thief has form behind Profiteer last prep and looks suited resuming in a midweek 64. Been scratched a couple of times this prep so watch the market.

(6) Miss Balvenie was an impressive winner fresh and is now two wins from three. Promising.

Also Backing: (9) Burum - $6.00 at PlayUp

Hard to knock (5) Stay In Touch who has hardly put a foot wrong in five career starts, winning four and running 2nd in the other. Puts herself up near the speed and shows good fight in the straight every time. One comfortably in this grade last time out and gets a good apprentice claim to offset the big weight. Goes close again.

(7) Hickock drops in grade and should be fitter now. Was a touch unlucky last start and can be an improver here.

(13) Invincibilus is in good form and has won two on the bounce. Wide draw no issue for her and will have plenty of room to wind up and run on hard yet again.

(3) Imperial Hilton flies fresh but didn’t see the best of him last prep. Keep an eye on the market because his best form will be tough to beat.

Tip: (5) Stay In Touch - $4.00 at Moneyball

(14) Sunday’s Best looks a touch of value off the back of a good win over 1600m. Can’t see the 1800 stopping him and he has been in good form all prep. Tougher task here but is on the up.

(11) Lady Proisir comes to Melbourne in search of dry tracks and think that is a key for her today. I think she’s got a heap of upside and looks a big price.

(9) Aravene comes out of a strong Flemington race fresh and ran better than the 5th that she finished. Fitter now and this is easier while she maps to lead this in a race that lacks a bit of speed.

(7) Oceana Blue won impressively on debut back on Boxing Day and was quickly put away. First up at 1800m is interesting but have to trust the stable on the placement. Think she improves off whatever she does today.

(1) Excelleration can find form quickly and knows how to string together wins. It was a gutsy win last start over this trip and expect he can continue to improve now 3rd up. Has a solid record here at Sandown and gets in well after the 2kg claim.

Not sure what to make of (6) Eaglemont who has been very flat in two runs following a dominant fresh win. Started $1.90 in a similar race to this two back.

(14) Agrimony drops in grade for this and expecting he can improve 4th up now and out in trip.

(15) Larrikin next best.

(10) Visinari was visually dominant having first start for new stable, romping in by 7.5L. That backed up some hot work at the jump outs and I expect he can continue to progress now. He ran good time in that run and Kah takes over for this today. 

(1) Akecheta has good 2nd up form and can improve with fitness following the first up effort. Will be up on speed and give himself every chance.

(8) Orleans Rock has a good record at this track and will enjoy the strong tempo in this race. Expect him to be hitting the line hard from the back.
