It’s another huge day at Flemington today with a big nine race card, headlined by the running of the Andrew Ramsden with a golden ticket into the Melbourne Cup awaiting the winner.

The track is currently rated a good 4 with the rail out 2 metres. Fine and sunny conditions are expected and we should see perfect racing conditions.

Billy Bestford has once again cast his eye across the whole meeting and brings you his free race by race preview, best bets and value bets to help you find some winners this Saturday.

Best Bet: Race 8 – (17) Triple Missile

(6) Doull was a $1.2m purchase and has looked sharp at a couple of jump outs. Showed decent enough speed in those and expect he can be tough to beat on debut today. Pretty exciting prospect and get the feeling he could blitz them here if right.

(1) Don’t Change hit the line well in The Showdown at just his second start and is sure to take improvement out of that. Still does a bit wrong but is ready to win now 3rd up.

(3) Gold Bucket was super impressive winning at Cranbourne last time out. He looks a progressive type and Newitt sticks for the ride here.

(2) Nothing Silly won a strong form race on debut and returns to the track today off a short break. Expect he is ready to fire here first up. Recent jump out was encouraging.

Will put (9) Ravaged Award on top who showed promise in debut campaign. Won well first up and then had a few excuses in a strong bm64. A recent jump out was very encouraging and think we can see the best of her this prep.

(3) Commands The Field never runs poorly and was very good last start against the older horses. Maps for all the favours again.

(7) Miss Melbourne looks a progressive type and goes in search of her 3rd win five starts. Dominant last start at Geelong but might need luck from the low draw.

(6) Arranmore on best form would be very hard to beat.

(7) Flash Feeling was very unlucky in a strong race at Caulfield two back – he ran past subsequent G1 winner Glint Of Hope there. Was in the worst ground last start and can bounce back now.

(3) British Columbia is on the up and won well last start at Pakenham. Expect they will find the front today from the wide draw and he looks a super tough horse to run down when he gets thing in his favour.

(5) Sonora has been flying this prep and finished hard last start. Looks ready to win again.

(2) Carlisle beat a few of these key rivals last start and is now 2/2 this prep. Form is stacking up around him and is sure to give another good sight.

Hoping we can see the best of the best-named horse in Australia, (2) Butter Chicken and if so, he is much better than this grade. Nothing went right last prep and if you look back at his debut campaign he looked an exciting talent. This is the easiest race he’s seen for a while and taking the chance he’s come back improved.

(7) It’s Kind Of Magic was a big run last start to just miss in a similar race to this. 3rd up now and rising to this trip looks ideal.

(10) Adele Armour will enjoy the drop in grade and has been going well this prep. Back to 1400m suits.

(1) Vespertine gets in well after an apprentice claim and finds an easier race than what she’s been going around in. Can improve.

Was keen to follow (12) Coolth off the back of a very good fresh run over an unsuitable trip. Gets out to the mile now and has a good record 2nd up. Maps to bet a nice trail into the straight and think he can explode late.

(8) Beltoro has been game all prep and deserves a win off the back of some good runs without much luck. This probably a touch easier.

(20) Vitruvius is still an emergency but has been desperately close to winning at both runs this prep. If gets a run, 3rd up now he will be hitting the line strongly again.

(15) Baretta can bounce back after pulling up with some issues last start as a $3 chance behind Uncle Bryn. The fresh win was very good.

(5) Ice Pick Nick was far from disgraced in a strong race last start off the back of two good wins. Will find the front from barrier 1 and has one of the best front-running jocks on board. Expect he gives a great sight.

(9) Arran Bay threw away the race first up when laying in. Clearly come back in top order and has been a winner 2nd up in the past.

(8) Jimmy The Bear wouldn’t shock me stepping up to a more suitable trip. He looked pretty smart last prep and can improve here.

(13) Cardinal Gem ran on strongly last start behind a smart one. Better for that run under the belt and looks ready now.

Feature race of the day with the Andrew Ramsden and a spot in the Melbourne Cup awaits the winner.

Winning form is good form for a field like this and (11) Splendiferous has improved out of sight since coming to Mlebourne in search of dry ground. Last start was super impressive racing away from them and running good time. Can’t see 2800m stopping him and the stable will have him cherry ripe.

(2) Luncies should be a big improver finally getting on top of the ground. He’s one of the class horses in this field and expect to see him right in the finish.

(8) Through Irish Eyes is knocking on the door for another win and was very good last start. He’s a winner over this trip.

(1) Warning won the Victoria Derby here and is clearly the best credentialled horse in this race. Not sure how good he is going at the minute?

(10) Point Nepean has been running very well from the front at last couple and looks next best.

(17) Triple Missile looks the standout bet on the card to my eye. Was doing best work late on a very wet Warnambool track where it was tough to make up a lot of ground. That was his first run since February and looks ready to win now 2nd up onto drier ground. Maps for every favour and am confident he goes very close.

(10) Mystery Shot comes out of that same race and is a much better 2nd up horse. Up to 1400m is a big tick for him as well. Looks the danger and don’t want to lose on him.

(16) Aquagirl is on the quick backup from last week where she was only narrowly beaten. Clearly going very well and will be given every chance in the run.

(3) Morvada next best.

(1) Dosh beat Snapdancer in a recent jump out and has very good 1000m record. Likes the Flem straight and keen to see what she can do this prep.

(12) Easy Single is another who has a very good record over this trip and a recent jump out was as impressive as they get. Toughest test to date but trust the stable with the placement.

(2) How Womantic hasn’t won for a while but has looked good at the jump outs and can sprint very well fresh.

(6) Young Liam and (10) Twist Of Fury next best.

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
