Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, September 8th

Racing at Sandown Hillside on Wednesday and Trent Crebbin has previewed every race.

Sandown Racing Tips

Midweek racing on the Sandown Hillside this Wednesday as we lead into Group 1 racing this weekend.

Trent Crebbin has done the form for a tough Sandown meeting and his best bet comes up in Race 6.

The Sandown track is a Good 4 and the rail is out 12 metres. The weather in Melbourne is expected to be fine, so we should stay in the Good range.

Best Bet- Race 6 (1) Linas Legend

Best Value- Race 7 (11) Cambourne & (6) Sirileo Miss

(1) Character on top now he’s finally getting out in distance. He’s had a few runs this prep but the most recent behind the talented Lina’s Legend at Echuca was the best and getting out to a mile from barrier 5 looks ideal.

(5) Rhinoceros maps beautifully again and comes out of two solidly run races. He had every chance last start but couldn’t reel in the leader at Sale. Gets his chance to go one better.

(7) Blackcomb will appreciate the 1600m after closing solidly first up behind Adele Amour in an on-pace dominated race. Look for her late.

(6) Semper Fortis started $1.40 and just missed. Can definitely win here in an open race.

I think this race will be a fairly good guide to some of the Oaks leadups but there’s very little between a few of these. (2) Barb Raider had every chance in the lead up over 1400m and kept coming. She started $2.80 in that race and her best work was her last 100m when just unable to reel in the leader.

(1) Adele Amour was the leader and got an easy time in front, holding on well. Actually meets the other better at the weights but does have an apprentice on board.

(4) El Patroness was on debut and did run the fastest late splits of the race. She’s got a length to make up but clearly wants more ground as well.

Off their SP’s last start I can’t have Adele Amour so short but can’t split Barb Raider and El Patroness.

Tip: (2) Barb Raider- $2.90 at TopSport

Saver: (4) El Patroness- $3.00 at Ladbrokes

(11) Decent Raine clearly brings the best form to this race, having finished 2.2L off Zouzarella last start at Caulfield. I thought she stuck on well enough there given the leader finished 7.5L away in last. Don’t mind the drop back in trip and she did start $4 there, which is what we’re getting in an easier race here.

Stablemate (10) No Way Ever won nicely on debut, sitting on speed and proving too strong. Gets in with 54.5kg after the claim and can measure up.

(4) Covert ran a slightly faster time over the same T/D as No Way Ever a week later, coming home slightly slower. Doubt there’s much between them.

(2) Pegasi has beaten Lightsaber and was 3rd (beaten 5.5L) to Profiteer in Sydney. He’s jumped out well.

Tip: (11) Decent Raine- $4.20 at Bet365

Tough race over the 1000m. No doubt (4) Snapper will be the best horse going forward- his two wins at The Valley at the start of last prep were very good and he’s jumped out well, but he’s definitely more of a 1200, maybe even 1400m horse in time.

(5) Modear is an 1000m horse. She’s incredibly hard to catch because of her racing pattern, but does perform best with light weights. She’s got some strong SP’s over key chances here and is a backable price.

(1) Whipcracker Way beat Modear first up at this T/D last prep. He started double the price of Modear and got every favour in the run. Definite winning chance with Richards claiming 3kg and his excellent first up record.

(6) Sapphire Crown loves the 1000m and ran fairly well first up, but I still think he’s much better on a wet track which he won’t have here.

Actually had Modear as a 1×4 play but she’s come out. Tricky race.

Tip: (1) Whipcracker Way- $3.80 at Sportsbet

(1) Zoushine can improve on a firmer track and in a much easier race after being outclassed behind Beau Rossa last start.

(1) Linas Legend returned with a dominant win at Echuca, sitting on speed and proving far too strong, running the meeting’s fastest last 400/200m. The debut 2nd to Generation was solid and he gets map favours with Lane sticking.

(6) Fortunate Kiss is the interesting one. He was far from disgraced on debut, running 3rd to Enthaar and Ingratiating over 1000m. The first up win at Warracknabeal was very good- he beat nothing at $1.40 but came from a long way back and did it softly late.

(8) Star Of Chaos bolted in on the synthetic last start and has clearly improved stacks during a spell.

Tough race. (11) Cambourne hasn’t really delivered on early promise, but his best form would be hard to beat. He did beat Aysar home in a Caulfield Guineas Prelude before not really firing last prep. He’s been gelded since then and has jumped out very well. Blinkers on, had an 1190m trial, plenty of intent.

(3) The Garden is flying but this is another big step up in grade and she got all favours last start. I think this might be where the end runs.

(2) Prince Of Helena races well fresh and at 1400m.

(6) Sirileo Miss is 2/2 first up and did dominate a decent field first up over 1300m last time in. She was only beaten 1.2L in the SA Oaks at the end of last prep and can run well.

Tip: (11) Cambourne- $4.40 at Bet365

One of the more interesting races with a handful of imports first up. (15) Nobel Heights won impressively first up last prep over a mile before eventually placing in an SA Derby. 1800m should suit first up.

(10) Horrifying ran on well first up over 1400m. Getting out in trip is going to help but he does come through that awful 3yo winter staying form.

(9) King’s Charisma is the shortest of the imports for Aus Bloodstock and has to be respected.

(3) El Misk probably has the best international form of the imports but might need the run.

Tip: (10) Horrifying- $5.00 at TAB

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
