The final race on the eight-race card on a heavy track at Taree on a Monday, it truly is one for the diehards, but there’s a couple that I’m going to have something small on here.

(3) Pacific Rim has his first start in NSW today for a new stable, having previously been with Phillip Stokes in Victoria. Whether he is at his best on heavy ground is a query, but this is probably a drop in class on what he’s been racing against in Victoria. This stable has a good strike rate and with that, they go well here at Taree. Good draw, 3kg apprentice claim, can be competitive at double figure odds.

(4) Sir Bawn broke his maiden by 4.2L two starts ago and he was good in defeat last start. He tends to get back in his races and he did the same last start, but he did make up good ground in the straight to be beaten 2.3L on the line. He was well backed that day and if he carries that form into this race, he should be able to be right in the finish.

(13) Essoess goes well in the wet and looks a danger.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
