Interested to have something on the debutant (9) Ovoid who has shown ability at the trials. Has had 4 spaced out in the lead up to this debut and I think he can kick start his career with a win here today. Has shown plenty of natural speed, especially in a recent trial and thinking Tim Clark can rate him out in front and be hard to run down.

(8) Akihiro is the obvious threat after last being seen running in the Canberra Black Opal behind Kalashnikov. Was clearly out of his depth there but will give this much easier race a shake from the low draw.

Think (2) Saquon looks ready to win after a little freshen up following some good performances in similar races to this today. Drops back in trip which I think suits and his only career win has been 3rd up from a spell. Should push forward and take some catching.

(1) Sammy gets back onto his preferred dry track and looks a winning chance here. Admittedly has been disappointing, albeit in tougher races this prep but think he is ready to peak 3rd up.

(9) Hidden Hills is still stuck on the 1 career win from 14 starts but put in a much improved performance last start at Gosford over 1200m. Steps up to the 1350 here and has to be a chance now nearing peak fitness.

(7) Arctic Thunder is only lightly raced and looks a really good chance in an open race here. Like the fact she gets Tim Clark to ride and has started to build a nice overall record. That 1L win fresh over All Hallows’ Eve is a performance I’m keen to follow and I think the drop back in trip suits today.

(10) Thiswilldous has been flying lately and takes the natural step into stronger grade today. Gets back on his home track and can race up on the speed and looks the one some value to run a good race.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
