With the expectation that the track will play leaderish and good early speed, (1) So United looks a good bet at Wyong. After winning convincingly three back at Canterbury, he then failed stepping into a benchmark 72 at Canterbury the following start. The stewards report stated that he got to control his prior race and that it could be reasoning behind his failure. The trainers agreed but also stated that he would be dropped back in grade for the next start. At his last start, he got to lead and dictate throughout before fighting with the eventual winner He’s A Given right to the line, going down by half a length. He comfortably beat home the rest of the field by four lengths and showed he is no push over despite being headed in the straight. He gets the draw of barrier one in the same grade and the short Wyong straight will suit him well. I don’t think the extra 100m hurts as I strongly believe he is a decent stayer and should be able to dictate terms throughout before kicking away.
