Hard to get too excited about this small field to kick off the card.
I’m fairly intrigued by one of the roughies though, with (5) Comanche Chant lining up in a No-Metro-Wins race on debut, rather than tackling a maiden. it generally indicates they may be pretty smart if the stable elect to ace them in races such as these straight away, rather than going for an easy kill somewhere else. Would have to be pretty good to beat a couple of these as but getting a reasonable price to find out.
(3) How’s The Serenity finds a very suitable race. Her last win came in this grade and she’s been running in harder races her past few starts.
(2) Captain Burglar won last start thanks to a drop in grade. This is a harder race than the one he contested last start.
Pike goes on (4) Comealilbitcloser first up which catches the eye. He has four wins and three placings from 11 rides for this stable this season.
(6) Choice Bid’s only placing came in a similar race to this here at Belmont.

Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Comanche Chant

Have to give another chance to (6) Astrape here. She was given a torrid run last start when finishing 4th over this track and distance after sitting wide throughout. The concern today has to be the map from barrier 11 with the rail out 15m, but Chris Parnham goes on and her form is clearly the best in this race.
(10) Bella Sprite has trialled well leading into her debut today and draws the inside gate with Laqdar Ramoly on. Has been heavily backed which is always a good lead from this stable.
(5) Floppy can be thrown in at big odds.
(1) Ground Breaker next best.

Not very keen to get involved here.
We’ll get a good guide on where (6) My Boy Eddy fits in here with Bella Sprite in the previous race. My Boy Eddie beat Bella Sprite in a trial and Bella Sprite has been heavily backed to win Race 2. If it comes out and wins it’s obviously a good sign for My Boy Eddy.
Pat Carbery jumps off (8) Vranyo to ride My Boy Eddy and Chris Parnham replaces him on the favourite. I thought it had every chance first up and despite the good draw here, looks short enough in the market now.
(11) Quids draws the inside and gets Pike on, so there’s a bit to like there, but the horse that ran 3rd in its recent trial since failed on race day.
(7) Rommel’s Jeuney and (4) Bobalong Bob can both be thrown in at odds.

Great little betting race here.
We were on (8) Arracity first up at good odds and it was one of the bigger horror shows you’ll see. She ended up back last on the rail and ran straight up backsides the entire straight. With even lucky I think she goes close to winning that and I have to be with her again today. She’s a horse I’ve got a lot of time for.
(7) Saturn Black sat three-wide the trip first up and battled on well to run 3rd behind Ghost Who Walks. Think this horse also has a bit of ability and with a better run today, should be in it for a long way.
(2) Johnny Angel sat wide throughout on his WA debut and still stuck on well for 3rd. Drawn awkwardly but can go well.
(4) Rock Hard Omaru makes its stable debut and isn’t hopeless at big odds, while Pike gets the inside on the favourite (5) Perfect Gem and will be popular.
Arracity and Saturn Black the two for me.

Another good little race here.
(1) Nurhaci is flying this prep. Unsuited dropping back to 1000m last start but finished off in the fastest final 400m of the entire meeting. Back up to 1200m today and senior rider goes back on so should be hard to beat.
(5) Beau Zoom gets the typical Neville Parnham drop in grade today, a tactic that works for the stable every other week. He’s been racing in 66+ company on Saturday’s and now drops into a No-Metro-Win race on a Wednesday, which should see him go very close.
Pike goes on (8) Stocktaka for Ash Maley and it comes into this first up without a public trial. Big red flashing lights about that set up and at $11 looks the value.
Will be backing all three.

Will be sticking with (2) Material Witness here, who continues to run well. Bumped into the smart Timely outburst two starts ago and then just got too far back behind the leader/winner Wiener Waltz last start. Not an ideal draw here but there should be good tempo in this race which will suit him running on.
(1) First Law was smashed in betting to start odds-on last start, but was snagged to sit three-wide the trip and couldn’t come on. Parnham takes over from the apprentice today but they do draw wide.
Looks between those two.

I can’t get (3) Enduring Moment as short as $2.00 here so I’ll be with (2) Dad’s Bigheaded at the better price. He resumed with a good run behind the talented Written Matter, finishing off hard from the back of the field. Second up last prep he probably should have won, when held up for the majority of the straight before getting out and flashing home. Has won his only start over this track and distance so will be with him to beat the favourite here.

Happy to sit out the last with nothing really appealing.
(4) Rebel Heart was OK first up here in a Class 3 and drops back to a Class 1 now. Should be fitter for that run as he was first up over the mile, and Chris Parnham sticks.
(2) Elafella should be ready to win third up with pike going on. Was given no hope first up and then sat back in the field last start. Expect now they try and lead and from there will be hard to run down.
(1) Al Mahalo will be thereabouts.
