NSW racing today is set to take place at Kembla Grange, with the meeting scheduled for Rosehill transferred due to the ongoing Covid situation.
The program is headlined by the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes, along with the Group 3 Ming Dynasty and Group 3 Premier’s Cup.
The track is currently rated a Soft 7 but should continue to dry out, while the rail is out 4m from the 1100m-winning post, and 2m the remainder.

We start the card with a Highway which could go any way. (14) Kelvedon Road bolted in to break the maiden last start but he really should have broken it before last start, with no luck in either of his first two starts back from a spell. Drawn awkward but can be competitive at each way odds.
(9) The Storm In Me has won two of his three starts this prep and will go forward to sit on pace. Likely to look the winner at some stage and will be hard to run down.
(5) Danzadel has run well in Highways in all three starts this prep and the best form for Highways is often other Highways. Drawn well, Berry on, will be thereabouts.
(7) Lord Desaminaux is likely to need further but can run well, while (8) Propose A Toast should come on from its first up run.

(6) Royalzel looks the obvious choice here having won three of his five starts, the most recent being a dominant win in Melbourne. Gets JMac on from the good draw and basically picks himself.
Outside of him I can make a good case for a few at odds though.
(3) Awesome Lad started $8 first up but made a complete meal of the start, losing several lengths and any chance of winning. Forgive him for that, he gets Bowman on today and although he’s drawn wide the $31 looks an overreaction given he started single figures in that race last start.
(5) Bowery Breeze has returned in great form and gets favoured conditions with a wet track. Drawn awkwardly but will no doubt be right in the finish.

(1) Celestial Falls resumes from 63 weeks off the track but her best form would be very hard to beat here. She’s had three trials leading into this so should be forward enough to be competitive.
(4) Hasstobegood loomed into the race like she’d play a part last start, but stopped. Third up today, blinkers back on, she doesn’t win out of turn but expecting an improved run.
(9) Majella had no luck last start and while this is a tougher race, a good showing wouldn’t surprise.
(3) Foxborough has run 3rd in all four starts when third up from a spell.

(2) Mankayan‘s run was hard to ignore first up in Australia at Flemington. He drew wide, settled way back in the field and absolutely charged home to run 2nd behind D’aguilar. Gets another awful draw here but does get Bowman and his favoured track conditions. The step up in trip also suits. Will need the track to play fairly.
(10) Pale King was basically given a barrier trial first up. Now jumps straight from 1400m to 2000m second up, so we could see him settle closer and be more competitive at big odds.
(11) Our Intrigue gets the mid-prep freshen and trial from Waller, a stack of gear changes and now JMac on. Look for improvement.
(14) Austrata is ready.

(5) Animate resumed with a very good effort behind Big Parade, who was dominant and will go on to win more races this prep. Animate finished off well for 2nd and was strongest through the line, and his second up record is phenomenal, with three wins from four starts. The slight query is where he ends up on the map but happy to back him at each way odds.
(8) King Of Sparta broke the track record here a couple of weeks ago but the track played exceptionally fast that day. The query is whether he can repeat that on wet ground today.

(4) Majestic Shot is undefeated from four starts at this distance and is also undefeated fresh. Has three wins from four starts on wet ground so with even luck from the wide draw, will be hard to beat.
(6) Andermatt returns as a gelding today and gets JMac booked straight away which is a good lead.
(14) Gleneagles has some talent and isn’t hopeless at each way odds.

Going to stick with (8) Kingsheir who was dominant on his return last start and gave the impression he was destined to go on to win more races this prep.
(10) Snitzify draws horribly but is ready now third up from a spell. His first two runs back haven’t been bad at all and he’s undefeated from three attempts when third up.
(12) Savvy Valentino isn’t the worst 100/1 pop you’ll see. Typically improves second up so don’t be put off by the poor first up run.
(17) Toomuchtobear is a horse with plenty of talent and can make the step up in grade here. Still needs to gain a run though.
