Hot race to start!
(4) Nowhiteflag could not have been any more impressive in his return to race here two weeks ago. That was only a Westspeed Platinum race but he did it effortlessly and never got out of second gear. That prompted trainer Todd Harvey to declare he may be one of the best horses he’s put a saddle on. He can make the step up in grade here with Chris Parnham taking over from the suspended Shaun McGruddy.
(6) Written Matter showed plenty of ability in his first two career starts, winning both, before failing in stakes company. The Gangemi stable is absolutely airborne at present and this horse should be very competitive in his return to racing today.
(2) Fairy Fast won first up from two years off the track at Northam in July and hasn’t been seen since. She’s very lightly-raced for a six-year-old, with four wins from seven starts, so she must have issues but she’s also got talent.
(8) Island Charm next best.

Think (2) Holy Enchantment goes very close first up here. Ran 3rd in a Magic Millions race first up last prep behind Gemma’s Son, then was a tragedy beat second up before running 2nd again in Listed company last time we saw him. Tackles a Westspeed Platinum race fresh here, which typically are pretty weak affairs. Drawn well, so long as he doesn’t get too far off them I think he’s a huge chance.
(1) Apple Schnapps won four of his last six races for Lindsey Smith before being bought by the Gangemi stable. They tend to have their new acquisitions tuned up for their first run for the stable so expect this horse to be no different. The camp are flying too.
(4) Beat The Bro was a big run first up but he can often do that. He’s hard to catch.

Another cracking contest awaits here between a few very exciting runners.
Two weeks ago we saw (3) Wilchino and (7) Triple Missile go head-to-head over 1000m, with the race run at a brutal speed. Wilchino absorbed that speed to hold off Triple Missile, who launched from last to be beaten a head. Triple Missile was the only horse at the meeting to break 22 seconds for his final 400m and 11 seconds for his final 200m.
This is a bit of a different set up today. Wilchino will have to sit outside (4) Ziebell who is drawn inside it. All seven career wins have come over 1000m and now she steps up to 1200m for the first time.
Triple Missile is likely to be back near last again from the draw, with Mitchell Pateman taking over from Brad Rawiller. But if he can be closer than what he was last start, I think he’ll run them down.
(8) Secret Plan is a tasty addition to the race. Bolted in first up before going down as the well-backed odds-on favourite last start, after sitting three-wide the trip. Draws 1 here for a perfect sit behind the speed and isn’t without hope of knocking off the pair of them.

Keen to stick with (9) God Has Chosen which is my best bet of the day. He’s had two starts for the Lindsey Smith camp and should be undefeated. He was a tragedy beat first up at Northam and then atoned for that with a dominant win over this track and distance last start. Takes on a significantly harder race today but he’s got plenty of ability, Pike sticks and with any luck he will be coming home over the top of them.
(4) Ginger Flyer is flying. Three wins from his past four starts and is unbeaten at the track and distance. Goes forward again to probably sit outside Big Bada Boom and will look the winner at some stage. Just whether he can hold off the fast finishers.
(3) Big Bada Boom doesn’t know how to run a bad race. has finished top-two in nine of his 11 starts. Will be right there again.
I wouldn’t be leaving (1) Blinder out of the numbers. He’s on his WA debut for Neville Parnham, having formerly raced in Victoria. His recent trial was super I thought, and he’s got a good fresh record.
(7) Beret will flash home as usual.

(6) Kissonallforcheeks started $2.15 against Western Empire last start but it all went wrong with no speed in the race, which left her in front with the lead. Forget she went around there and respect that SP. Prior to that she was ridden quietly and beat Luke’s Gold and Kaptain Kaos, who she meets again here. Think she can bounce back.
(3) Kaptain Kaos came out of that run behind Kissonallforcheeks and won the Northam Cup. He was backed as if they knew the result there, and he came from last in a madly-run race to get over the top to score. He’ll be back near last again and will have to round them up. He can, but if Kissonallforcheeks gets first run she might be too good.
(4) Luke’s Gold never runs a bad race and will be right thereabouts again, while (2) Platoon is one to include at odds. He should be ready now.

The jockey change and the spacing of his runs has been the key to (9) Mr Delegator in recent starts. He’s appreciated being kept fresh and Shaun McGruddy has ridden him very well in both of his last two wins. He steps up to Listed company for the first time here and Brad Parnham takes over from the suspended McGruddy. There’s not a huge amount of speed in the race so he’ll get things go his way again and the five weeks between runs won’t be a bad thing. He deserves his chance at this level but this is a much harder field than what he has been facing, although he did beat Temptacion easily last start, who then came out and won her next start.
I think (4) Marocchino is ready now, third up and back to Listed company. He battled away well on speed in the Northam Cup, while the two leaders compounded to be beaten 200 yards.
(8) Midnight Blue didn’t get much luck first up behind Temptacion and should come on plenty for that.
(2) Taxagano got home well from last in the Northam Cup but was well suited with the way the race was run.
(13) Temptacion has hit form at the right time for the in-form Morton and Parnham combination.

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes sees a rematch from the Burgess Queen and at the current prices I can’t bet.
(3) Buzzoom has hit a rich vein of form, culminating in an impressive Burgess Queen victory. From the good draw today she won’t be back as far as she was last start and that makes her awfully hard to beat again.
(2) Searchin’ Roc’s potentially hit the front just a shade early in the Burgess Queen and was left a sitting duck for Buzzoom. Meets her 1kg better at the weights and I’d expect a slightly quieter ride today to give her something to run down.
(4) My Fury was eye-catching coming from last in the Burgess Queen to finish 4th. She was held up until about the 100m mark and should have finished closer.

(1) Elite Street will have to be at his best to win here with 59.5kg and barrier 14, but I think he’s returned to somewhere near his best this preparation. Much like the Dan Morton stable, he’s absolutely flying, winning both the Crawford Stakes and Prince Of Wales’ with relative ease. He’s only going to be better suited stepping up to 1100m and I think he’ll win this on his way to winning the Railway again.
(12) River Beau wasn’t bad first up without a whole lot of luck late in the race, and he does improve second up from a spell. He was scratched from the Prince Of Wales’ after presenting lame on race morning so that’s a query but if he’s 100% he’ll go OK here at big odds.
(13) Long Beach is another to include at big odds for the in-form Gangemi team. He won on stable debut so no surprise to see him ready to go fresh here.
(15) Graceful Girl adds plenty of intrigue. She got a long way back behind Wilchino and Triple Missile last start when dropping from 1200m to 1000m but will be much better suited back to 1200m today. Blinkers on first time and Pike goes on her over Stageman which is an interesting move.
(3) Red Can Man will need the run.

I think (2) This’ll Testya is over the odds here at $9.00. She is either very good or very bad. First up she was very good and second up, she made a mess of the start and that was curtains for her. That was a very strong race with the likes of Wilchino and Triple Missile in the field. If she jumps today, she could well control this race from the front, and if that happens, she’ll be hard to run down.
(3) Brooklyn Pier has a terrific fresh record with three wins from four starts and ran 57.86 first up last prep. Another that looks a decent betting proposition at the odds.
(5) Acromantula resumes and did beat the likes of Iseered Iseered first up last preparation. Obviously is a good chance here but looks short enough now at $2.70.
(10) The Front Bar just keeps on winning. Likely to get a long way back from the wide gate but wouldn’t rule out her coming over the top of them.
Tip: (2) This'll Testya $9.00 TAB
Also Backing: (3) Brooklyn Pier $7.50 TopSport
Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN This'll Testya, 0.5 units WIN Brooklyn Pier
