(11) Uniquely has been knocking on the door and has been well backed early. Draws wide but the last run behind French Moon at Stawell reads well for this.

(7) Cornucopia ran on well last start at Pakenham in a strong maiden. She’s consistent but does get back.

(2) Domfiore was good in the same race at a shorter price and draws the inside here.

Pretty average maiden. Uniquely will be hard to beat if she produces her last start effort but the price is short enough now.

(11) Who Runs The World was good first up over 1050m at Morphettville but was a bit weak 2nd up over 1200m. The drop back in trip looks suitable.

(6) Winter Pinter has jumped out well enough to be competitive here and draws nicely in barrier 2.

(3) Steel The Moment should push forward from barrier 8 on debut.

Another maiden I don’t think there’s much value.

(3) Beaven Lane is an interesting Hawkes debutant. Holland takes the ride with so many of the stable’s riders not at the meeting. The son of Redoute’s Choice has jumped out well and looks a good chance on debut.

(4) Bengal Bandit is the favourite, also on debut for the Price/Kent yard. Draws barrier one which should help the Brazen Beau gelding.

They dominate the market from (10) Scardancer who drops back in trip but has been well beaten at two starts.

The rest look out of place in the city.

Finally a race with a bit of interest. (8) Corner Pocket is a handy horse resuming and is coming off two wins. The most recent won at The Valley over Harpuna and Night Passage was very strong and he’s jumped out well. Should land leader’s back from barrier 2 and be hard to beat.

(9) The Natural looks the leader coming off an all the way win at Cranbourne over 1200m. Gets regular rider Luke Currie back on which suits and she looks to control the race again. I think Corner Pocket has more upside but The Natural has the map favours and fitness.

(1) Wilmot Pass is the best performed horse in the race but has a shocking map with a 3kg apprentice Josh Richards on. I think he’ll get too far back from barrier 12.

(7) Chief Altony is a good horse and has never missed a place at 1200m but two of those races were in maidens and I think he’s better over further.

Tip: (8) Corner Pocket- $3.50 at TAB

Also Backing: (9) The Natural- $4.60 at Sportsbet

Betting Strategy: 2 units WIN Corner Pocket, 1.5 units WIN The Natural

(1) Don’t Doubt Nic was an impressive maiden winner last start and this looks a suitable class 1 to progress to. The query here is the draw because he got a lovely run last start from an inside gate on speed. If they go forward from barrier 9 he looks hard to beat.

(5) Bossy Chloe sat on speed first up and fell in a three way go to the line. Should improve off that and will be on speed.

(6) Kaniva looks a good chance. She was wide no cover and only finished 3L off Okay To Pay with Yosemite and Diamonds who won yesterday. Draws barrier one here so there should be no chance of getting caught wide and Olly sticks.

(2) Inspired Sun has the best form around this grade, with solid runs in bm70 grade last prep but he does get back in the field and 1100m is as short as he wants it.

Tip: (1) Don’t Doubt Nic- $6.00 at Bet365

Also Backing: (6) Kaniva- $5.50 at Sportsbet

(11) The Krone didn’t get much peace out in front first up over 1400m in a race dominated by swoopers. He battled on well behind the likes of Redwood Shadow who went enormous at Flemington on Sunday. Should take plenty of improvement from that and be in the finish.

(13) Insaaf is another first up and draws wide. She generally settles just off the speed but her last six runs have all been from barrier 1-3. Definite chance and has been backed.

(10) Faithful Diamond won a bm58 first up last prep and ran some good races in this sort of company. Maps fairly well and should run a good race.

(8) Cheeky Peaky looks suited stepping back up to 1400m after a good run over 1200m last start. The run prior over the mile was solid and she maps well.

(5) Smokin’ Romans got the blinkers last start and it did the trick, sitting handy and putting 2L on Americain Angel who started $1.55 and probably should’ve won on the weekend. Should be at peak fitness and if he finds cover from the outside draw, I think he goes close again.

The danger is (1) Tan Check who has an excellent first up record. First up last prep over this trip she ran 1.7L 3rd to Think ‘n’ Fly and I think she gets a nice map here from 3.

(13) Under My Spell was good first up behind Zousonic in mare’s grade. She’s another that maps excellently on speed and should run well.

(6) Stretto next best.

Value: (1) Tan Check- $6.50 at BlueBet

Betting Strategy: 1.5 units WIN Smokin’ Romans, 0.5 units WIN Tan Check

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
