Belmont hosts another nine-race card on Saturday afternoon as the wet weather continues out in the West.

The track has come up a Heavy 9 and Tim Geers has picked out four races on the card he’s keen to bet in.

(4) Searchin’ Roc’s has been good to us in her two recent wins, which followed up a very unlucky debut. She’s showed versatility in her two wins, building momentum in her first win before sitting and sprinting last start. She’s adept in the wet conditions so there’s no reason she can’t win again.

Very keen to see the return of (5) Success Play which is a horse I’ve had plenty of time for since its debut. He was enormous in the Silver Slipper before racing in the top juvenile races. He’s been gelded and gets the blinkers off, and Chris Parnham jumps off other horses to ride him.

(5) Picture Perfect went in the horses to follow file after the first up run behind The Spruiker, who he meets again here. He settled back in the field on a day where it was heavily favoured to be on speed, and he just had no room to build in the straight, running into deadends wherever he went. Up to 1650m could test a couple of these but he will love it, so he might get over the top of them late.

Decent little field here but the return of (7) Miss Vasari was super and she can go on with that here. It’s a much tougher race than the one she won but she bolted in and looks a filly on the up, and we know she handles the wet. Going to be very hard to hold out again.

I’m once again going to back my favourite mare (2) Miss Maranta who comes up huge odds again at $27. She’s absolutely flying this prep and her first go at Saturday grade last start was a good one. She didn’t get the clearest of runs but once again finished off strongly to run 5th. If she gets to the outside of the straight today, that could be where the best place to be is, and she has a huge finish on her. Each way all day.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
