Keen to take on the favourite (1) Beat The Bro here and side with (3) Irritable Rodnee who comes here first up. He ran 2^nd on debut behind Aberdeen Queen, which is a very good form line, and then won his second start at Pinjarra. He’s placed in four of his six starts overall. Returns from a 25-week spell having trialled very well on two occasions. Trainer Stephen Miller has a 30% strike rate here at Bunbury this year, with six winners from 20 starters, and this is his only runner of the day. Hoping he can stay rails-in-run as the inside is worth lengths.

This is a cracking race and I think there’s a few really good bets here. Very keen to take $5.50 for (7) The Thunderess here. I was keen on her first up but she paraded sweaty and was ridden negatively, eventually running straight up backsides in the straight. She didn’t have any luck at all but she gets a jockey change today with Brad Rawiller replacing Carleen Hefel, which is a tactic we’ve seen used very successfully by Lindsey Smith since they both moved over. Carleen normally rides them first up and then Brad goes on when they are ready second up. It’s Rawiller’s only ride of the day and it’s Smith’s only runner of the day. Should be very hard to beat.

(6) See Ya Champ hasn’t had any luck in two starts this prep, launching home from back in the field on both occasions. Whether the track will allow him to do that today is the big query but he’s really knocking on the door for a win and I have to have something on at $5.50.

(2) Arracity broke through for a deserved win last start and went forward from the wide gate on that occasion, which took luck out of the equation. Expect similar tactics today and at $7.00 I will be saving on her.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
