You can’t always bank on trial form but the trial of (10) Ruinart was something else and I loved the way she accelerated through the soft going. She put the sword to them on the bend and just kept going, winning the trial by 5.15 lengths with Rachel King in the saddle. She will ride the filly again today and from a nice barrier, I expect her to be sitting in the front 3 or 4 throughout this race. The progeny of Hallowed Crown have been showing their prospects on the wet going and I expect that to continue with this filly.

(9) Larkspur Run looks a nice prospect and won her trial nicely on the synthetic at Warwick Farm. I am treading carefully with her as I am not a fan of trials on the synthetic and rate those on the grass much higher. Nevertheless, she could prove me wrong, but we will see.

Look for a much more improved run from (3) Colour De Roy. I think he is attractive odds and perfect for your exotics.

I had (1) Mount Fuji on top for the mid-week race at Warwick Farm and they scratched for this race, so I will continue with him on top as I believe the race is of similar quality if not easier than what he would have faced at Warwick Farm. Loved the way he finished off behind Dance last start and Dance was admirable behind Deference at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. I am banking on him handling the softer going with his class and he shouldn’t get too far away from these from the outside barrier.

(6) Velorum trialled up nicely behind Good Omens and he looked like he was well held in third. His debut in May was one to forget before he went for a break and I am very keen to see how he returns.

(2) Not Another Reiby gets the blinkers for the first time and they may choose to settle him a touch further back then usual. Has form on the soft going, so watch for him late in the piece.

The form around (2) Barossa Rosa is brilliant, and she looks the one here to take out the third. First-up last preparation, she took Yangarra Rose right to the line at Wyong on a soft 5 before heading to Canterbury as the favourite and running to trouble around the bend. She was held up on the heels of other runners rounding the turn and up until 200m before getting out into clear air. By the time this happened, it was too late against horses like Tiny and Cat D’Oro. She has only had the one trial in preparation for this one and was well held to the line. The draw is a touch awkward so expect Tom Sherry and his 2kg claim to take the horse forward to eliminate luck and be the one to run down.

(5) Windsweep has placed on her two return races but has been well held at bay in both. She is a clear second pick and if the favourite is vulnerable at any time, she will be there to strike.

(8) Tight Ropes looks a solid bet for your exotics.

No confidence in this race and have landed with (3) Space Is Deep from the Chris Waller yard. She returned well at Kensington in December, flying home to finish 2.6 lengths in third behind Trajection and My Demetra. This was despite being held up for a short distance in the straight, causing her to weave through the field to run home. She loves the wet tracks and will come on nicely from that first-up run, even more so with that nice quiet trial she had in between races. Only issue will be that she will give them a start from the wide draw, otherwise it is a nice each-way bet.

(4) Strange Charm is looking to back up her last start win at this track and distance. She just held off Dylan’s Romance late to salute after leading the entire way. Doesn’t mind the wet and they may just adapt the same tactics as last start.

(8) Split Not A Shock won well as Gosford last start and if she can sit in a nice position from the awkward barrier, she can make her presence known late.

Siding with (2) Dylan’s Romance after his last start second behind Strange Charm. He was only second-up from a break, but son of Dylan Thomas was very brave sitting outside the leader for nearly the whole way before going down by 0.1 length. Three quarters of his wins have been on rain effected going whilst his record over this distance and this track is solid. Josh Parr sticks with him whilst carrying 60.5kg and getting out to 1900m in this grade makes him slight overs in my eyes and should run a solid race on the quick back up.

(3) Main Stage was good behind Amoretti last week but has drawn terribly for this one. Josh Parr has jumped off him for (2) Dylan’s Romance, but (3) Main Stage gains Kerrin McEvoy. He is going to need luck but there is no doubting his recent form.

(7) Into The Oblivion will be flying late as he is probably looking for further. If the speed goes on, he will come right into this race.

I loved the run of (1) General Soho here after flying home at this track and distance a week ago. They intended to ride him further forward and ended up settling midfield before unfortunately being held up from the 600m to the 400m and being unable to improve his position. He made solid ground late on the eventual winner Tepario and beat home the likes of Super Contender and Catapult. He generally runs well with the sting out of the ground though it will be interesting to see what they do from an awkward barrier.

(4) Blazing is nice each way odds for a horse that will definitely go forward from the wide barrier. He got run over late last start by the likes of Accelerato and Deference which is good form for this. He has no issues on the ground and gains the services of Kerrin McEvoy.

(2) Already Blessed was brilliant last start and will go forward with (4) Blazing to create his own luck. This is much harder though.

Siding with (8) Maui Girl here after a nice run at this track and distance last week. She got slightly inconvenienced when making her run in the straight around 200m to 100m out which may have just altered her momentum, but she held on nicely for third by less than a length. The start before she was good in Saturday grade finishing third behind Saigon and Sausedge, so I think she is a top chance get that a win this start. She is drawn nicely and loves the sting out of the ground, so expect her to be fighting out the finish.

(1) Bergen flew home to salute last start at Kensington and has been freshened up from that run. He gets a nice 2kg claim from Tom Sherry and an extra 150m suits him down to the ground.

(5) Above and Beyond is coming back from Saturday grade where he was extremely poor over the 1400m. He doesn’t mind the going and is drawn well.

Tough race to finish on, landed with (1) Perigord here with no confidence. First-up last start, he was forced to run in restricted room from the 650m – 550m and then again between the 350m – 300m. Then near the 200m he has to be steadied from heels before finishing 1.8 lengths in fourth. He ticks many boxes here including having a good record over this distance and track as well as on a wet track. He has drawn the inside so hopefully Robbie Dolan can give him a peach of a ride and conserve the energy with 61kg on.

(2) Wander is coming off a nice win at Wyong last start and is drawn well enough to get a suck run throughout. Tom Sherry gets 2kg off which helps and he doesn’t mind the sting out of the ground.

(12) Hurt Money returned well at Hawkesbury and is drawn well to go forward. He could be in this race a long way.
