Racing takes place at Canterbury today after the eight-race meeting set down for Wednesday was postponed due to the wet weather.

The surface is a Heavy 9 with the rail out 4m for today’s meeting.

(1) Ita looks ready now third up from a spell. She was good last start behind what could be a fairly smart horse in Samoot. She’s had three starts on heavy ground for a win and two 2nds and despite having to carry 61kg here, I think she’s ready to win.

(7) Ringarosa carries the featherweight of 51kg after the 3kg claim for Ellen Hennessy but would need to improve up in grade here.

(4) Sensationalisation makes its stable debut for Jason Deamer having formerly been with Mick Price and Mick Kent in Victoria. Nash Rawiller booked straight away is a good lead.

I’m not normally big on horses dropping in distance but (5) Sword Point just looks a class above these and there isn’t that much depth in this field. Last three starts have been very good, most recently winning by 4L at Rosehill min-January. Typical of Waller to give them a trial to tick over with a gap between runs. JMac on, just needs to overcome the awkward draw.

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
