I have gone with (8) So Good To Me here who has been in pretty good form this preparation. Two back at Dubbo over the 1300m, she couldn’t get going until late in the piece and almost run down her rival in this race One Pound and probably would have beaten her with even luck.

(6) One Pound wasn’t fancied at all first-up yet has ended up favourite for this race and hasn’t been seen since that run whilst she meets So Good To Me 0.5kg worse off. Our girl So Good To Me then had a nice run at Coonamble but I think the timing of the ride was just a bit off and she hit the lead way too early before being run down in the shadows of the post.

One of the ones that ran her down was (2) Sea Lady who she also meets 0.5kg better off. She is third-up and drawn ideally, so expect her to be in the thick of things again at a nice price.

This mare has mixed it with much better form so far this preparation and looks set to make it two on the trot. (3) Fritz’s Factor ran well enough in town first-up, finishing within 3.5L of Hulk before stepping back to the provincials at Gosford last start and making light work of her opposition.

She will be coming into this race third-up and nearing peak fitness whilst Reece Jones keeps the ride which ensures a 1.5kg claim down to 56kg.

The draw does look a touch awkward, but it will be okay with her racing pattern providing she can get cover. She is starting to get short now, hopefully we can get a better price come race time.

I have decided to go a bit wider in the Coonabarabran Cup and play something closer to the double figures in (2) Bajan Gold.

The six-year-old gelding has found some pretty good form this preparation which started with his back to back placings in the TAB Highways in late July/early August. They decided to send him north where was too classy in back to back wins at the Gold Coast.

Last start though at Toowoomba, he got pretty far back off a bad barrier and found trouble in the straight. There is a slight issue that he is stepping back to 1600m from 2000m but there is enough pace in this race to ensure he will get a nice tempo, plus he has run well around the mile previously.

He is drawn well enough to sit nicely in midfield and the 3kg claim of Casey-Mae Waddell brings him in nicely to 56.5kg. He will be hitting the line nicely and will give us a thrill for our money.
