Billy Bestford brings you two of his best bet at Goulburn to see in the weekend.

We look towards Goulburn today where there is an 8 race card to get stuck into. The track is currently rated a soft 6 and the rail is out 7 metres. Fine weather is predicted so we should be racing on a reasonably dry track.

Thinking (2) Contradeel will be hard to beat after a very impressive fresh run. Looks suited back to a weaker maiden here and like him stepping up in trip. Mcdougall is a strong booking and will only need natural improvement to win this.

(1) California Sky will be popular after performing well in both starts this prep. Should be ready to peak here 3rd up and has been going around in stronger races than this recently.

(7) Armour Force was very good on debut and will take plenty of benefit from that run. Finds Tommy Berry now and should see every favour from the good draw.

(2) Pontmain was an eye-catcher fresh when storming home to run 4th after missing the start over 1400m. Is still only lightly-raced and should improve dramatically from that previous run. This looks a reasonably weak bm58 on paper and he can get away with this one.

(5) Happy Hustler doesn’t win out of turn but can pull out a good 2nd up run on his day. Was solid first up and at this track and Penza sticks for the ride today. Looks over the odds.

(4) Lady Kirkham should be nearing peak fitness today after two very good runs this preparation. Gets to a trip now which she loves and best career performances have come 3rd up in the past.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
