(5) Hot Profit won on debut at Murwillumbah and although he didn’t beat much in that field, I find it interesting that Bruce Hill chooses to bring him to a race like this. Would think he can improve off that and should see him in the finish here.

Also sticking with (3) Minto’s Paradise who I was on in The Phoenix two weeks ago. He was well beaten after leading that up but he was impressive prior to that at the Gold Coast, where he beat the likes of Denari and Perfect Encounter. Good draw today and should find this much easier.

Plenty to like about (10) Prospectus today who gets Craig Williams on from the inside draw after a couple of placings in recent starts. Looks ready to win, the barrier means they will be positive in running and with even luck is the horse to beat.

(6) Getyourgreyon is airborne this prep (much like the rest of Costa stable), winning his first two starts back from a spell. He’s got a poor third up record, failing to place in four starts, but he has been caught wide without cover in three of those. Different horse this prep, just needs some luck from an awkward draw.

(4) Captivator was sound behind Cloak last start and prior to that struck a heavy track. Can go well with a good draw and does have a good record here at Ipswich.

(2) Indispensable was backed as if unbeatable last start on his QLD debut but couldn’t run down the runaway leader at the Sunny Coast. The weight of money for him that day is enough to be wary today.

(9) Red Bloom is undefeated here at Ipswich, with all four career wins coming at the track, three of which were at this distance. He won in a canter here two starts ago before having a slightly troubled time at Eagle Farm last start. Tony Sears has a 40% strike rate at Ipswich and if this horse brings his previous form when running at this track, he’ll be very hard to beat.

(11) Divine Diva was fairly ordinary first up but I’m expecting her to improve off that. She’s never finished out of the top two when second up from a spell and from a good draw today can be competitive.

(16) Triple Arrow won on stable debut for the Bellamy camp and might be able to go on with it now. Something small at double figure odds.

(8) Palladas gets a drop in grade and should find this much easier than the Fred Best Classic last start, where he bumped into Apache Chase, Ayrton and Amish Boy. He was only beaten 0.5L and we’ve seen that form stack up already. Drawn well, Maloney on and he trotted in by 3.3L here tat his only start at this track.

(2) Tumbler Ridge has won two of his past three and saluted at good odds for us last start. Prior to that was beaten in the Queensland Guineas behind Private Eye, Apache Chase and Kueracha. That form is very strong and has stood up very well. Can go close again.

(12) Palaisipan is undefeated coming into today and although only winning narrowly last start, the first two did put 7L on the rest of the field. The horse she beat then came out and won easily at its next start. Hard to know how that form stacks up in a race like this as it’s a fair step up in grade, but she gets Craig Williams on which helps.

(11) Dzsenifer next best.

David Vandyke sends two runners to Ipswich today and one is (3) Desert Lord. He’s had five starts for the stable, resulting in two wins and two minor placings. Has form behind the likes of The Harrovian, Niccanova, and Emerald Kingdom which reads very well and if he returns at his best, he’ll take care of this lot. Incredibly, DVD has a 52% strike rate at Ipswich this season, with 19 of his 23 starters finishing in the top three!

(5) Dr Why Not is flying and just continues to run well. He’s now had seven starts this preparation and hasn’t finished out of the top two in any of them. Needs a good ride from the gate but should be very competitive again.

(12) Ready To Humble was good first up and did win a Highway in Sydney last prep, so shouldn’t be too far away from them here.

(9) Phantom Falcon next best.

Sticking with the Waller pair here in the Ipswich Cup.

(2) So You Win was in my horses to follow list last weekend after I saw he turned up in the nominations for this race. He was also nominated for Sydney but I’m glad they’ve chosen this option. His run last start was terrific. The race was run at a complete crawl and he was never any hope of running down the leaders, but he savaged the line late. Prior to that he was good behind Reloaded, and Warning before that. Should appreciate ethe step up in distance.

(7) Humbolt Current is the other Waller runner and gets Craig Williams on board. Has been knocking around in races over this sort of distance and comes into today six weeks between runs with a trial in between. Pretty standard tactic for this stable and if they’ve got him right, he will be right there at the finish.

(10) Axe will need some luck getting across from barrier 13, but if he does I think he can bounce back to winning ways here. He’s flying and so is the stable. Bumped into the very smart Skins three starts back, followed that with an easy win at Doomben (that form has stood up) and ran a bottler in the BRC Sprint last start. Tofane has come out of that race and won a G1 so the form looks very solid.

(2) Amish Boy has been flying for some time, just doesn’t win. He flew home along the rail in the Fred Best Classic last start and Ayrton has come out of that race and obviously won very well last weekend. Gets Craig Williams on today and a good draw for once, so today could be his day.

(4) Boomsara looks ready to peak third up, while (12) Right Or Wrong is another that can be included at double figures.

(9) Lillemor goes on top after a nice first up win in Sydney. She beat the likes of Malkovich and Accelerato in that race, and both of those have since come out and won, while Hulk has run 2^nd. Should be hard to beat in a race like this.

I was very keen on (2) Boomtown Lass first up and while she went close, I thought she more than had her chance. Her second up record is nowhere near as good as her first up record so that’s the query, but she does get the inside draw.
