Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, June 19th

Billy Bestford previews every race today and has found plenty of value throughout the card.

We have racing at Rosehill today in Sydney with a quality 9 race card to get stuck into.

The track is currently rated a heavy 8 but there is plenty of rain predicted so we may see a very wet track come race 1. The rail is out 7 metres the entire way around.

Best Bet: Race 6 – (3) Count De Rupee

Was pretty keen on (1) Raging Bull on debut and he was a real eye catcher there, flying home to run 3rd. Looks like he will appreciate the step up in trip and I think he will go very close again today.

(4) Hundred Proof ran 2nd in that same race and was very well supported in the pre-race market. Will only need to run up to that performance to go close.

(2) Verbek comes back to Sydney after a very strong 2nd up in QLD in a good 2yo race. Is knocking on the door to win one and has race experience on his side.

(6) Power Me Up is the danger and the wetter the better for him. Has won three straight coming into this in weaker grade and deserves his shot in this company. Loves the sting out of the ground, looks ready for this trip and gets well down in the weights with a good claim.

(4) Wicklow will be all the rage after winning his first two Australian starts comfortably. This looks an easier race than he took on last time out but keen to be against at the price on a heavy track.

It was hard not to be impressed with the win of (7) Cavalier Charles first up at Nowra. He let rip down the outside fence to win by 3.5L. Is still only lightly raced and clearly has scope to improve throughout this prep. Last start win was on soft 7 so should be okay in these conditions. Jmac takes the ride and their should be enough speed for him to fly late.

(15) Fangela maps for the gun run in behind the speed with Bowman to ride. 2 wins and a 3rd from three starts shows this horse has talent. Was a good winner 2nd up last prep.

(4) Patino Ruby ran the quickest last 200m of the race last start in a similar Highway to this. Should be ready to peak 3rd up now and is progressive.

Not a race I am overly keen on but (1) Lackeen seems well placed today. Has been improving with every run this prep and was only narrowly beaten over this track/trip last start. This race is no harder and he should be going close.

(2) Monsieur Sisu is a proper swimmer and should lead this field up and give them something to catch. Gets conditions to suit today but is winless from 14 starts here at Rosehill.

(6) No Compromise has been very impressive since arriving in Aus and was a good winner last start in this grade over 2400m. The form out of that race has been good and he will be winding up late.

(12) No Laughing Matter grows an extra leg in the wet and will love the conditions today. Comes into this off a solid 4th when first up behind Toro Toro and is 2/2 when 2nd up. Unbeaten in three runs on heavy tracks and while this is a step up in grade, happy to speck in an open race.

(3) Irish Angel is the other horse I am keen on after a very soft win when first up at Canterbury in similar grade. Looks like she could go to another level this prep and is another who will handle the conditions today.

(5) Fastconi deserved that last start win after a few placings this prep and could go on with it now. Providing he hasn’t come to the end of his prep he will be hard to beat.

(3) Count De Rupee will be much better suited back to this grade today after tackling the G3 Fred Best up in QLD last start. Was flying before that, running 2nd to Marway before winning comfortably this same track/trip and grade. One career start on heavy was a good 3rd, making up late ground and looks a bet at the current $9+.

(12) Tycoonist is bursting to win one and has been well backed in early markets. If it was a dry track he would be extremely hard to beta but has to be some query in this conditions.

(7) Royal Banquet got too far back when first up but should be able to settle handier today. Lightly raced and will be a big improver 2nd up.

(11) Matowatakpe next best.

The Mckell Cup is the highlight of the day and it is as open as they come. (3) Yonkers is airborne and just seems to keep showing up and running very well wherever he goes. This is no harder than what he’s faced recently, handles all conditions and gets a dream run for Bowman.

(2) Wu Gok is arguably one of the better wet trackers we’ve seen in recent times and he usually pops up to win these sorts of winter races. Has been smashed in betting since all the rain has come and will be hard to hold out.

(8) Stockman is another who will handle the conditions and looks suited back to 2000m. He’s had plenty of runs this prep and continues to race well.

(11) Brutality could be the value if he handles the step up to 2000m. Was keen on him last start and seemingly had every hope but couldn’t rule out.

Happy to speck a couple in this race to beat the favourite. One of those is (12) Rock My Wand who showed good improvement 2nd up when filling a placing behind Gravina. I like the setup for her now 3rd up out to 1300m and gets a wet track which she loves.

(7) Katalin may well just be too good for these but taking even money for a horse who is yet to run on a heavy track doesn’t appeal. Returned from a long spell with an emphatic win and clearly has the upside in this race.

Providing she makes the field, (14) Sahra is a good value chance. Looked the winner at one point last start here over 1200m and should appreciate this trip now. Loves it wet and looks the blowout.

(12) Wairere Falls was unlucky last start when clattered up for room at a crucial stage before only being beaten on the line by Great House. Looks ready 3rd up and should handle these conditions. Hoping they can settle forward from the low draw and be too strong.

Honestly thought (3) Badoosh was a touch over the odds after an encouraging first up rain behind the likes of Dream Circle and April Rain. Hasn’t won for a while but gets onto his preferred wet track and stepping to 1500m looks ideal. Should have options from gate 5.

(8) Oscar Zulu has come back in very good order and was rewarded with a strong win over 1400m last start. Looks to still be on an upward trend and if he handles the track he will go close.
