(2) Burning Power looks the obvious after a great ride and nice win last start over 1600m. If she can extend that to 2040m this is no harder and she’s the one to beat.

(4) Fighting Arrow was dominant breaking his maiden by 7L at Geelong last start. He definitely looks suited up in trip again and will measure up in a fairly thin race.

(3) The Amazonian the other winning chance, winning well last start on the heavy 10 at Cranbourne.

Not much interest in the first- any of those three could win without surprising. Slight lean to Fighting Arrow at the prices.

Tip: (4) Fighting Arrow- $2.90 at Ladbrokes

(11) Riverina Cyclone looks ready to break through. She battled on well behind what could be a handy horse in General Firepower who races in the Sandown Guineas on Saturday. She should be able to find a spot on speed and take some running down.

(5) Invincible Crown likely has to head back from the wide gate but is racing very well. He was wide without cover last start and stuck on well.

(2) Cheryl’s Lad next best after bouncing back to form last start.

Having something on (2) Mystery Island here who gets out to 2500m for the first time this prep. He apparently didn’t handle the soft 7 last start when backed into $8.50 in a harder race and they went quite hard in front. His run prior was good and he didn’t show anything last prep until he really got out in trip. This is easier, he can lead from barrier 2 and the double figures looks attractive.

(1) Guns Ablazing comes out of a race at this T/D and he was very good there. This is a drop in grade and if he can find a spot from barrier 10 he’ll be hard to beat.

(7) High Commission next best after beating (6) Tigertiger fair and square two back at Mornington.

(2) Vitruvius definitely comes out of the best race behind Alycone at Flemington. He was rock solid there and the win prior over 1700m at Geelong was very good. Back to the 1600m might help but he’ll need to come from a long way back and gets Tom Ryan on for Brett Prebble which can’t help.

(3) Laundy doesn’t win often but was solid first up and the 3kg claim looks ideal. 1600m will help and he has the map favours over the favourite.

(1) Savoie is ready to win. He missed the start in the Donald Cup and ran on well to be beaten 2.2L. He’s had a few issues but if he jumps well can be in the finish.

With the map I think (12) Aquapishe is the one to beat. He was far too good at $1.60 first up in a Pakenham maiden, with the 2nd horse winning last night. Olly jumps on from barrier 5 and he’ll take plenty of beating from there.

(9) Rights Of Man I think has the most talent in the race. He’s run some big races in good company, I just query where he gets to over 1000m. If Lane can hold a spot from barrier 3 he’ll be flying late.

(6) Crimosa next best.

Very open 955m race for the mares. One at odds that can run well is (3) High Risk. First up last prep she ran on from a mile back to finish 3rd to Esta La Roca who would give these a beating. Don’t think she’s a 955m horse but if she’s ready to go she’ll be flying late.

(5) Award Winner isn’t a 955m horse either but potentially has the most talent. She might be out sped from barrier 7.

(8) Thunberg is a fast Tassie mare who wasn’t far off Award Winner when they met at Caulfield last prep.

(2) Florescent Star was also in that race but again may be better over a bit further.

Tricky race but the speed should be on for High Risk.

(7) The Awesome Son was strong late winning at this T/D last start but that was on a soft 7 and I think he might be better on the wet. He’s up to 58kg now but can run well again.

(9) Rosseau is a very tricky horse to catch. He was off the map last start and ran very well. When the money is on for this horse he typically performs, but the market hasn’t missed him this time.

(11) Sacred Lass was good on speed in that race and was only 2nd up. She’s undefeated 3rd up and might be better suited on a good track. She’s ready to peak and of the ones out of that race she looks the one to elevate and be hardest to beat.

Tough finish. (6) Madam Superior drops in grade but struggles to win. This is the easiest race she’s contested in a while.

(5) Expectant was well respected at Dunkeld last start in the heavy and can improve on the good track.

(7) Mariamia was outclassed in the Geelong Black Pearl race two back but solid last start.

Absolutely no interest here- happy to brush this and look to tomorrow.

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
