Racing at Mornington on Tuesday and Billy Bestford is keen on a few throughout the day.

We have racing at Mornington this Tuesday where there is an 8 race card to dive into.

The rail is out 8 metres and the track is currently rated a soft 7, although with little rain predicted we could see an upgrade throughout the day.

Billy Bestford has done the form and has found a few races he is keen to bet into.

Think today might finally be the day for (1) Akaka Falls. Is yet to run a bad race in 5 career starts but he just manages to find one better each time. Has a 2nd to Oxley Road to his name and should have an easier time up on the speed here than his last race. Think he is ready to break through in what looks a reasonably weak maiden.

(7) Bossy Chloe resumes after being put away for a spell following a 6th when hard in the market on debut at Geelong back in July. That race has turned out to be a handy maiden with five of the horses from it going on to win more races. Looked good in a recent trial and can run well here.

(5) Tycoon Beau makes his debut for the strong Lindsay Park stable and has been well supported in ealy markets. Jumpouts have been solid and certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see him run well.

Thought (1) Andalusia was one of the more interesting runners on the card. Was last seen running 4th in the New Year Sprint behind the likes of Frost Flowers, Tayla’s Moment and I Am Enchanting. Just got too far back but ran on nicely and looks well suited back to this grade. The stablemate he beat home that day was beaten a nose in a listed race in Adelaide on Saturday. Oliver jumps on board and is one of only two rides he comes to Mornignton for today.

(10) Under The Dunes will have plenty of fans after a nice debut where he looked the winner for most of the straight. Was only beaten by a handy one there and now steps up slightly in trip. Should race up on speed from the inside gate and be tough to hold out.

I was keen on (5) Wunambal last start at Cranbourne where he was smashed in the betting before never really having much luck. I think if you can be forgiving of that run his form last prep stands out in a race like this. Arguably his best run came third up last time in when going down a nose in a strong Saturday race at Caulfield.

(4) Our August Rose looks hardest to beat after trotting in by 4L last start at Kilmore. Takes the usual step up in grade now but can go on with it. Gets a nice claim to offset the 59kg and will be up on the speed and be tough to get past.

Happy to have something on (3) Rigel Star here who steps up from maiden grade after an impressive first-up win. Was well supported, went straight to the lead and never looked like losing. Obviously this looks much tougher but think this horse can progress to some better races than this. The horse he beat home that day came out and won easily after jumping an odds on favourite.

(4) Hummalong will be the one who is suited by the hot speed in this race. Gets back and always needs a bit of luck with her racing pattern but will be the one to get the last crack at them here. Was solid with a big weight first up and now drops 4.5kg from that run. 2nd up record is good with a win and a placing from 2 runs.

(2) Show Some Decorum resumes after being gelded and that could be a massive factor for this horse. Has shown ability and consistently runs well without winning. Has been competitive in some strong races and will race on speed and can give a kick.

(8) Signorina another who will be suited by a fastly run race and comes into this after a very good maiden win. She beat Akaka Falls last start who we have on top in the opening race today so keep an eye on that.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
