Keen to be with (7) Real Danger here at the prices. The favourite Safety Fuse does appear hard to beat, especially with the big jockey change today, but I think Real Danger is a bet as second-favourite. She started $3.80 in a very good quality 2YO race in town on debut, and while she didn’t live up to expectations there, I think she can be forgiven. She’s been given eight weeks off and looked very good at the trials recently, which suggests they’ve got her back on track. The horse that ran 3rd in that trial has some ability too. Grant and Alana Williams have a phenomenal strike rate with their runners at Northam, with 12 winners from 33 starters in the past 12 months, at 36%. Pike on obviously, has a slightly awkward draw to contend with but think she is too good.

Tim Geers

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
