Racing today in Western Australia takes place at Northam with eight races on the card.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 but conditions are wet so a downgrade wouldn’t surprise. The rail is out 9m the entire circuit without a cutaway rail, making the home straight fairly tight and narrow.

Will be taking on the favourite and backing a few others here but one runner stands out.

(1) Lincoln’s Law makes his stable debut for Anne King, and her runners typically go well when she brings them to Northam. This horse was beaten narrowly first up at Belmont and things probably didn’t work out ideally for him last start with the big weight. He has a good third up record and even though he’s drawn wide, it probably suits him as he resents being inside of runners. If he turns up at his best, I think he’ll give this a big shake.

(6) Oceanzara is going super. Had no luck two starts ago and then ran well behind General Grant last start, who then came out and won a Saturday race. Draws the inside again but with no cutaway, it’s a tricky ride for the 4kg apprentice.

(8) Competitor is one I have my eye on at huge odds. it really catches my eye that the apprentice has been on in his first two runs back but now Micky Grantham wastes no time putting Paul Harvey third up. The horse might be cooked but we’re getting $23 to find out.

Tim Geers

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
