This bloke looks to get an easy time here, so (2) Forged In Stone goes to the top. From an ideal draw, he will stroll to the lead uncontested and there is very little speed throughout the rest of the field. He ran well at Taree but was just run over late, but still beat the rest of the field by 1.5 lengths whilst carrying the top weight of 60.5kg. He drops 3.5kg on that run here into the Class 2 and steps up to his ideal distance on his fourth run this preparation. Chad Lever jumps back aboard which is ideal and I believe he is going to be hard to run down.

This girl was extremely impressive on debut for her new stable after shifting from the Maher & Eustace stable. (10) Distillate took off from the field around 250m out at Gundagai and streaked away to win by a massive 5.5 lengths eased down. She is drawn much better to last start to do little work early and should be prominent but I do not expect her to be put into a speed battle if provoked. Blaike McDougall sticks with her which gives us an extra tick and I expect her to be too classy for this field.

I am putting in the favourite (4) Greek Hero at the current price as I believe he starts a lot shorter come race time. He was the flashing light in the first-up run at Kembla Grange, coming from last to finished 2.2 lengths off the winner in third. Stewards queried the run but the trainer was content with the run as the gelding was slow to begin and blundered twice in the final 1000m. Despite drawing the widest barrier, he will not be sitting as far back as last time and will be fighting out the finish of this one. The in-form Christian Reith takes the ride and should give him a good ride throughout. He is going to be hard to beat.
