The Oakbank Easter Carnival is back in 2021, with the first of three meetings this week beginning on Sunday, March 28.

Billy Bestford is keen to start the carnival with a winner, and he’s targeting Race 8 on Sunday’s card.

Thinking (1) Stryke In Style looks ready to win now 2nd up. Was very good fresh over 1200m where only beaten a length to Viduka in a stronger race in town. Drops back in grade for this and steps up to 1400m which looks a perfect combination. Obviously gets up in the weights but has the services of Pannel to do the steering from gate 5. Has won 2nd up previously and am pretty keen on his chances here.

(7) Maccabee looks the value runner in the race. Vorster jumps aboard for McEvoy and you’ve always got to be wary of that combination. Never really had much luck first up in a similar race but ran on okay and will now strip fitter for this. Has strong Victorian form to its name from early in his career, running in a VRC Sires behind Lunar Fox before finishing 3rd to Dirty Work. Happy to have something EW.
