Pretty uninspiring start to the card.
(8) Molly Magee trialled well leading into her debut in the Winter but she failed to do anything come race day. She was sent straight for a spell after that so maybe she pulled up with an issue or potentially didn’t handle the ground. She resumes with one trial under the belt today and Pike goes on first up which is a good sign. Happy to stick with her because if she has any ability at all she should be very competitive in this.
(9) Ambergate Rose trialled fairly but again, this race doesn’t have a heap of depth. Troy Turner has two wins from four rides for Paul Roberts, who also has a good record at Pinjarra. Can be included on debut at double figure odds.

Tricky little race.
(3) Warm ‘N’ Fuzzy was the favourite first up before drifting in betting and he overdid it up front, puncturing at about the 200m mark to run last. His trial prior to that was impressive but he’s failed to put it together on race day up until now. Maybe that first up run will have taken the edge off him, and Chris Parnham goes on which is a positive, but he looks short enough at $2.50.
(5) Ozzy Boy is an interesting runner, first up with no public trial, and William Pike booked straight away. He was well-backed on debut here at Pinjarra back in August but failed and was put straight out. His set up today makes me think they’ve got him ready to go.
(4) Mystery Man is the other runner at the head of the market for George Dupre and Jordan Turner. Comes out of a good race on debut and has trialled well leading into his first up run. Likely to be back in the field and will need the track to allow horses to run on.
Going to take on Warm ‘N’ Fuzzy here purely based on price and will back Ozzy Boy with a saver on Mystery Man.

Pretty keen on (8) Classy Stratum here, because there really isn’t a great deal to this race. She probably should have won two starts ago at Northam when the apprentice fumbled the reins and then she was beaten a pimple here last start over 1400m. She draws ideally to sit right on speed again from barrier 2 and the competition has showed plenty of chinks in the armour.
(7) Chokslam is one of them and she comes off a good run behind Rebel Heart at Ascot last start, where she sat three-wide the trip and still fought on strongly. She always runs well without winning thought and she’s had her fair share of chances. She draws the inside and for me that’s a negative, because she’s likely to get back on the rail and it’s been hard to make a stack of ground at Pinjarra.
(5) Comealilbitcloser ran four consecutive 2nds before failing last start. He’s had his chances and has been up quite a while now so willing to look past him, though he does get conditions in his favour in terms of leading.
(6) Ace Place ran well first up and gets blinkers on for the first time.

Another hard race but landed with (4) The Anvil on top, who was narrowly defeated first up at Northam. Jason Whiting replaces apprentice Victoria Corver today and from barrier 1 he should be able to kick through and lead. That gives him every chance at Pinjarra.
(9) Purple Pearl was luckless first up and potentially a bit plain last start, but it has been hard to make ground from back and wide at Bunbury, so the run might not have been that bad.
(6) Fiery Bay has shown enough to be the horse to beat in this race first up today, but the barrier means he’s likely to get back in the field and have to round them all up. That might make things a bit tricky at Pinjarra.
Not hugely keen to bet but I do have The Anvil rated shorter than $5.10 so will take the price.

(5) Free Solo ran well first up in a race that’s turned out to be a very good form reference. He was 4th behind Dash Doll, who then won again on Monday, and Prized Nemesis ran 2nd before winning its next start in town. Snowpiercer, who was 3rd, ran 3rd again on Monday, so that should see Free Solo be very competitive today. Hoping for a touch more positive ride with Shooter McGruddy going on board and with some natural improvement, he’ll be right in the mix.
(7) Heels A Plenty put together consecutive 2nds before failing last start with seemingly no excuses. Pike rode that day and he sticks with her today but it’s hard to be confident based on what she dished up last start, albeit the form out of that race has also been OK.
(2) Artie next best.

(6) Rosebush ran well last start, just finding one too good in the form of Flower Of Scotland, who goes around in today’s Mandurah Cup. She beat the rest pretty comfortably and she draws a similar gate today to get the run of the race. Chris Parnham sticks with her and she should be right thereabouts at the finish.
(5) Ocean’s Fifteen hasn’t had a great deal of luck in recent starts and prior to that he was more than competitive in some decent races in town.
(2) Tommy Blue drifted heavily in the betting first up and that told the story. She ran second last, with the stable reporting she would appreciate more ground. She’s had eight weeks between runs so I dare say she had an issue and she gets the step up in distance today. Pike goes on so no surprise to see her bounce back but you’d be taking her on trust.
(8) Advocator not hopeless.

This year’s Mandurah Cup is wide open but I’ve landed on the favourite (6) Comfort Me for Rhys Radford and Craig Staples. He is only lightly-raced with eight starts under the belt, but he’s won three of them and he had no luck whatsoever in his first up run behind Platinum Bullet and Resortman. He was held up the entire straight with plenty to give and was only beaten 0.75L on the line. Drawn wide today but hopefully they roll forward from that gate and with even luck, he looks a major player.
I think the value in the race is (7) Distant Trilogy, who looks to have returned in career-best form this prep. First up he was huge behind Resortman and Platinum Bullet, and he broke through last start when rolling forward to sit on the speed. Drawn 5 today so interesting to see where he gets, but I think he’s a chance here.
Ash Maley holds a strong hand with (5) Megazone and (10) Skinnen Tins.
(4) Fred Dag gets his chance to improve third up.

Very open race.
(7) Rhythm Star probably has more upside than a lot of these but starting from barrier 11 first up might not be easy. She ran 3rd to Eeyore Wayz and Oristano first up over 1200m last prep, before going on to win over 2000m here at Pinjarra. She’s likely to be a long way off the speed which is the big concern but no surprise to see her launch home over the top.
(9) Missalfie ran OK first up at Northam and did run well second up last prep. Again the concern will be where Whiting gets to in the run – wouldn’t want to be too far back – but she’s capable.
(10) Port Beach should come across to sit right up on speed from the wide gate. Box seated here last start and won and it’s likely to be advantageous to be up on speed again.

The set up of (2) Axel ‘R’ Eight looks ominous here, with the horse resuming over 2000m first up with just one trial and Chris Parnham booked to ride. We’ve seen this stable pull off similar set ups to this in the past couple of weeks and this looks a winnable race. The five-year-olds two wins have been over 2000m and 2100m so provided he’s fit enough – which he will be – he ooks hard to toss.
(12) Upward Others was a big run last start, coming from back and wide to run 3rd. He looks ready to win now but the gate does make life a bit tricky.
(4) Rodomonte can be included at huge odds. Forget she went around last start when caught wide over the whole 2200m. Her form prior was OK.
