Pinjarra Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 29th

Tim Geers previews Pinjarra’s postponed Boxing Day meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

pinjarra-races

Pinjarra hosts its eight-race Boxing Day meeting today, which was originally postponed due to extreme heat in WA.

Conditions are slightly more bearable today, with 33 degree temperatures predicted.

The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 5m the entire circuit.

Tim Geers previews every race on the card below with his tips and best bets!

Best Bet: Race 3 – (7) Sweet Admiration

2000m maiden to kick things off.

(5) Cafe Nera finds his race. He ran home strongly over 1800m last start and was sound over 1400m and 1300m prior to that. Out to the 10 furlongs for the first time with barrier 1 and CJP looks a good set up. Horse to beat for sure.

(8) Mia Nobile‘s form doesn’t look flash but I think she’s been poorly ridden her past two starts. Senior jockey goes on today and can be effective.

(2) Art Warrior gets the nose roll back on and gets up to 2000m again.

(1) North Lane next best.

(7) Magnaman comes here on debut for Michael Lane and Chris Parnham, and I think he’s set to run a big race after a couple of encouraging recent trials. Draws well for a perfect run from barrier 4.

(8) Shake Baby Shake has run 2nd in both career starts at Albany, but she was beaten by a decent horse in Millivoy last start. That horse then went to town and ran 3rd. Doesn’t have to travel as far today and finds a very winnable race.

(2) Civvy Street has been finishing off well from back in the field and now gets Pike on from a low draw. If he can settle closer to the speed today, he’ll be hard to hold out.

Backing Magnaman, saving Shake Baby Shake.

Tip: (7) Magnaman E/W $7.00 Ladbrokes

Saver: (8) Shake Baby Shake $2.70 Bet365

(7) Sweet Admiration looks well placed coming out of a good form race. She was sound first up over 1100m, before running home into 3rd over 1200m here last start. The horse that ran 2nd in that race has since come out and won and the step up to 1400m should see Sweet Admiration very hard to beat.

(8) Extra Secret comes out of the same race as Sweet Admiration, where she started $2.25 and ran 6th. Pike goes back on and the step up to 1400m will suit, but I think she’s got a bit to do to turn the tables on Sweet Admiration, who ran home about 3L quicker for her final 400m and 200m.

(1) Top Notch Scotch next best at double figure odds.

(7) Vevinsky should be ready to win now. Ran the fastest final 400m of the meeting first up, then improved to run 3rd last start over 1200m here. Now gets up to 1400m, Pike goes on from the good draw and with even luck he’s the horse to beat.

(6) Roey Clam is going far better than what it might read on paper. Was held up for the majority of the straight two starts ago at Northam, and then sat three-wide the trip when 4th here last start. With a better run in transit today, can go close.

(5) Poster Art showed ability in his first prep and SJ Miller normally has them ready to go first up.

(2) Bell Lap broke through for a deserved maiden victory here over 1800m last start, and he didn’t get it easy. He had to do a bit of work early to find the front but he was the superior horse, leading all the way to score by 1.7L. Dropping back to the mile is some query today, but I think he’s a nice horse. With that said, he’s short enough at $2.20 I think.

(1) Westriver Miracle was competitive in this grade before breaking its maiden. Slightly disappointing last start but was only beaten 1.1L. Will be giving Bell Lap a head start.

(5) Never Sober should continue his rate of improvement as he gets over more ground. It was a solid win last start and the mile won’t hurt him.

(6) Titian Queen next best.

(1) Vane Tempest has been backed off the map here from $3.80 into $2.10. Her run in the Epona Classic last start was enormous, sitting wide throughout and still fighting on to be beaten just 0.25L. Back to her home deck here, drops back to 1000m down the straight and looks hard to beat. I can’t get her that short though and the barrier suits other horses better than her.

(2) Mantelli beat subsequent winner Heavenly Waters two starts ago and then looked to have Trevern beaten too before that horse fought him off over the final stages. Trevern has won four of his five starts this preparation so the form is obviously good.

(3) Material Witness resumes for Durrant and Pike and never runs a bad race. Has won in this class previously and has obvious claims.

Betting Strategy: 1 unit WIN Mantelli

No bet race if I’ve ever seen one.

(1) Kimberley Boy resumed with a dominant performance down the straight here two weeks ago. Has to carry 60kg today but looks to have obvious scope to go on to better races.

(6) Sockoff was bloused in the final stride here last start by Story Brook. Forget that horse’s next run – I think it’s much better suited down the straight so may not have given an accurate guide on the form. There was 3L back to the 3rd horse which typically is a good sign. Holly Watson is booked today so she’ll get 4.5kg on her main market rival, but she draws barrier 1 which isn’t ideal down the straight.

(5) Short Talk will be a nice horse but might need further.

(1) Kick A Goal Son is peaking. He’s improved with each run this prep and he won at this stage of his last campaign. Gets up to 1400m which is key.

It’s D-Day for (4) Irritable Rodnee I think. He was OK first up without being spectacular. With that run under the belt, he should be ready to win today. He gets a perfect draw so should settle just behind the leaders.

(8) Yankee Lima can lead this fairly easily and will take some running down.

(3) Bourbon Beau and (5) Speedbird next best.

Tip: (1) Kick A Goal Son $3.60 BetDeluxe

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
