(3) Kill The Lights resumes from a spell today and should be competitive on his home track. He’s had two starts which were back in January over this track and distance, where he finished runner-up in both. The horses that beat him were Mystery Man and Red Inferno, which is decent form for a race like this, especially the former. I have some reservations about both favourites so the $5.00 is a decent price.

(9) Schuplatter has had one career start, which was also back in January. She ran 3rd on that occasion, beating about a length over this track and distance. I couldn’t find many excuses for her that day and she was sent for a spell straight after it. She’s won her only trial leading into her first up run today, but she draws barrier 1 which can be a tricky barrier down the 1000m straight, as they tend to go straight to the outside rail.

(10) Bread To Flirt went close here two starts ago before striking a bog track at Ascot last start. She’s the big beneficiary of the draw, as she comes up with barrier 9 which will allow her to get to the outside rail. Has been very well backed in early betting.

(7) Total Lockdown has trialled well twice this preparation leading into his debut today. Some query about the form after the winner of his most recent trial only managed to run 5th on debut, but confident Simon Miller will have him spot on to win this.

(10) Gidget The Midget has also trialled well ahead of her debut. Trainer Lou Luciani had brought nine runners to Pinjarra this season and seven of them have placed, so expect her to go well.

(9) Eevalina improved in her most recent trial and that was on the same day as Total Lockdown. The Eevalina trial was run in a better time so expect her to be competitive.

Big watch on (8) Miss Andromeda who has been $61 into $5.50. Ran last on debut and then got beat 8L first up, but where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Competitive race.

(8) Smoker has placed in all three career starts. She finished off well first up over 1000m and was fair last start when she ran 3rd. Up to 1200m could suit and at each way odds today, she comes up a good price.

(4) Celebrity Man was bloused on debut on the heavy track at Ascot. Back onto firmer ground today will suit and Pike is back on. He looks short enough at the odds-on quote.

Chris Parnham jumps off Smoker to ride (5) Jedi Mind, who resumes from a spell. He was desperately unlucky on debut and can win this fresh.

(1) Trevern looks the leader and should be hard to run down.

Impossible race to bet in as there’s so many question marks.

(7) Petite La Femme is favourite but is a 20-start maiden. She does drop in grade here and will find this easier than her past seven starts, but it’s hard to be confident about her. She’s had plenty of chances.

(8) New Mystique actually has some ability. Her run at the end of last prep was eye-catching but she’s been off the track for 76 weeks, so clearly she’s had issues. Her recent trial was good but race conditions are a different beast.

(10) Treasured Prize was $1.70 first up and beat one runner home. Never, ever travelled and that was in similar conditions over 1200m here. She gets up to 1400m here and while I respect her SP that day, it’s hard to trust her.

(11) Star Storm hasn’t been far away and should come across to sit on speed from barrier 11. Not a bad each way price.

Pretty keen on (4) Vane Tempest who resumes from a 10-week break today. She loves it here at Pinjarra. She was enormous on debut, won her maiden here first up last prep, and then went down as odds-on favourite when she was slaughtered. I think this is a really suitable race for her and she should be very hard to beat today.

(5) Secret Statue was outstanding on debut midway through last year, which was over this track and distance. He came from back in the field and sprouted wings late to get up. He failed to go on with it in four subsequent starts but I think he’s got a bit of talent and I expect him to be charging home late.

(6) What About Moi has ability and should race well on the back of a good trial.

(7) Sans Le Sou won well over 1400m first up last prep and the stable is going very well.

Looks a race between the top two here.

(2) Material Witness is racing in great form, with two wins and two 2nds from his four starts this prep. Those defeats came at the hands of Time Scale and Timely Outburst, which are both good horses. With even luck from the wide gate today, he should be extremely hard to beat.

(1) Wiener Waltz should lead or box seat from barrier 2 and with the claim, be very hard to run down.

No reason (2) Fiery Water can’t win again here. He went close three starts ago before pulling up lame two starts back, but he bounced back with a solid win over 1400m at Ascot last start. This is probably a harder race but he gets conditions to suit and a nice draw as well.

(8) Deputano is one of two Lindsey Smith runners for the day. She was beaten as favourite first up at Northam but she gets Pike on today and should improve off that run. Looks the logical danger.

I think (2) Convalesce will prove hard to beat here. He drops back to a Class 1 third up from a spell and his run last start at Albany was good. He had to come from back and wide and was beaten less than 2L, with the horses in the lead/on the rail proving too hard to run down. Won third up last prep and should go close.

(3) Miss Maranta has been good in all three starts this prep. She surged late to be beaten 0.5L first up, ran home strongly over the mile here second up, and did so again over 1800m last start. Back to 1500m has to be a big query though.

(8) English Heritage won first up at Ascot and then started $1.90 at Northam last start but was very ordinary. Pike sticks with and she draws well but she has to be some query after that last run.
