Thought (2) Tools Down appealed at a decent price. Was as tough as nails last start to hold on for a 2nd win this prep and is absolutely flying at the moment. Should enjoy a good run up on speed from the inside draw and give a good sight yet again.

(4) Glowing Red looks toughest beat and is a deserved favourite after hitting the line well fresh. Is yet to miss the placings from 3 career starts and looks the horse with the most upside today.

(5) Oakfield Prince is another who is lightly raced, with one start for one win. Was put away quickly after that performance and will only improve off that.

(4) Goofy Mick looks one of the better bets of the day after a dominant win in maiden grade last start. Looks to have come back in good order and he ran good time in that last start. Can take the step up in grade here in his stride and draws inside most of his main rivals today.

(7) Free Dawn only had the two starts in her first prep, finishing it with a good win over 1200m. Has won a trial leading into this but just not sure if 1000m will be too sharp for her fresh today.

(1) Bangalley Lad is the value runner I’m keen to have something on. Was doing best work late last start on a very wet track and now steps up to one of his more favourable trips. The stable have backed him up quickly which tells me he is going well.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
