This is a nice race to start the day with a couple of nicely bred two-year-olds making their debut. (9) Four Moves Ahead is the half-sister to Emeralds and there have been some good opinions about her even before her impressive trials. She looks like a very promising early running two-year-old and judging by her latest trial, she should be able to handle any conditions that are thrown at her. She is drawn poorly and will likely be giving them a start, but I am hoping she can make an impression on debut.
(10) Laurelin is the close relation to Kementari and is coming into this race with just the one trial under her belt, where she reeled in the opposition with ease and made light work of them once passing them. She is drawn much better than (9) Four Moves Ahead and will likely get a head start in the straight.
(5) Mura Mura keeps running into good ones and she again has to take on these two. She will be thereabouts no doubt.

This is a very thin Highway race and still not a race I want to play in. I have plenty of time for (3) Mother’s Mercy and the Messara stable, as she aims to keep her undefeated streak going. Her win last start was better than the 0.8 length finishing margin and she will come on well from that run, especially with the 4.5kg weight drop. The query is the wet track mixed with the fact she has bar plates on her hind legs.
(7) Chewie Two comes from the same race as (3) Mother’s Mercy and not only gets a 3kg swing on her, but also drops 6.5kg from that run. He will no doubt be in a prominent position throughout and has proven wet tracks don’t bother him. I think the winner comes from those two, but the confidence isn’t high.
I think (6) Costas will run a better race than last start with the sting out of the ground and a nice draw.

I thought (4) Parry Sound has come up a nice price considering his last start effort. He missed the kick by 3 lengths whilst stepping up in grade and managed to only go down by 0.2 length off the in-form Gone Bye. He now comes back in grade and steps back up to the 2400m whilst getting in nicely with the 2kg claim of Tom Sherry. The track conditions suit and from the barrier, should be able to sit closer than last start.
The dangers are both (1) Skymax and (5) Harpo Marx who are both coming off last start wins. (1) Skymax had the blinkers put on and trounced his rivals at Warwick Farm by five lengths meanwhile (5) Harpo Marx made it back-to-back wins at a different Warwick Farm meeting, thanks to a nice ride by Rachel King. Both have queries on wet tracks but there is no doubting their form and class coming into this one.

It looks like the penny has dropped for (2) Private Eye as he looks to make it four in a row. He won nicely first-up at Gosford before winning impressively with 61kg last start at this track. The extra 50m suit as does the wet track and he is drawn to get a dream run into the race. I really think this is a nice race for him.
(4) Vreneli is a nice price for a horse who was impressive on debut at this track. He streaked away nicely to win by 2.8 lengths, but the question will be the quality in what he beat. This is no doubt harder but Gai will have him fit and ready to handle the conditions.
(6) Count De Rupee has a claim stepping back from stakes grade and gets in with a light weight. This will be his first real test on a wet track back in a more suitable grade.

It is hard to not have (2) Edison on top here as he is such a bulldog and loves the fight. He is going for three in a row here and will be loving the rain that has been hitting NSW over the past week. Depending on how the track plays will depend on whether he gets to dominate or not. He maps to get the favours and gets Josh Parr back aboard.
His stable mate (7) Soldier of Love hasn’t been racing that well this preparation but maybe a heavy track just might spring some life back into him. He gets to drop 6kg from his last start failure at Randwick and is at a terrific each-way price.
(5) Al Mah Haha is another who won’t mind the conditions and is coming off a pretty good run in the Villiers Stakes.

(4) Smart Image was impressive on resumption when coming from second half of the field and weaving through traffic to secure a narrow win at Canterbury. He will improve nicely from that run and the addition of the rain will enhance his chances. Without knowing the full details, Kerrin McEvoy isn’t riding Smart Image and instead Tommy Berry will take the reins. He will have to contend with a tricky barrier, but he does look hard to beat.
(6) Partners has come up a massive price on the back of his first-up run. He generally doesn’t run well fresh but improves well into his second-up run. He gets the benefits of a heavy track and an inside draw to which he will no doubt take advantage of to lead. 1300m hasn’t been an issue in the past but he hasn’t done it in town yet so that is a slight query but the price on offer will make it hard to leave him out.
(10) Terrace House is the interesting runner with McEvoy jumping off Smart Image onto the Snitzel gelding who has plenty of form in the wet. He carries no weight and gets a nice barrier.

This race doesn’t have a lot of depth to it and I will be hoping that (7) De Grawin has come back better than ever. Her last preparation was a success as she not only broke her maiden status but went on to have an undefeated preparation, winning all three of her races. She has had two trials in the lead up to this and looked very well held in her last and should be raring to go for this one. Rachel King trialled her and jumps off (6) Our Bellagio Miss for her, so I expect this is the right move. She is drawn ideally to either lead or box seat and she will be very hard to beat.
(4) Buckin’ Beauty was scratched from Canterbury for this so the stable must think she has a better chance here. She will have to do a little bit of work to lead but will love the conditions.
(6) Our Bellagio Miss is coming off a nice win and will love the conditions. She has a nice little fitness edge which could prove the difference in the end.

After winning the Nowra Cup in convincing fashion, (4) Cisco Bay put in a brave performance at Randwick last start over the mile. With Randwick being one of the more less forgiving tracks when it comes to the mile, (4) Cisco Bay was sitting last for the majority of the way whilst being three wide with no cover. He then had the nerve to keep coming all the way up the straight, finishing three lengths back in third. He gets the same grade, same distance and a more favourable draw here, I expect him to settle closer and be right in this at nice each-way odds.
(1) Badoosh has to carry a big weight from a poor barrier so I expect them to go back and come wide late. On a positive for him, he gets the services of Kerrin McEvoy and loves the wet conditions.
(3) Snowfire goes well but there is a query around him on a genuine wet track. He has a little bit of class about him, but that won’t be enough.

With bigger targets in mind, (5) Salina Dreaming will be looking to go back to back before heading up to the Gold Coast. Leading into her first-up run, the mare hadn’t finished outside of the top three and that continued as she strode past The Face and Redoute’s Image. That form had stood up well with The Face running second in the Gosford Guineas whilst Redoute’s Image finished fifth. She is drawn well, loves the wet conditions and she should map perfectly for an attack in the straight.
I am going to put a line through the last run of (10) Never Talk and I truly believe she will be better with the sting out of the ground. The draw is okay and she gets to take on her own sex, though this is a much tougher prospect then her previous runs.
(12) Tiny won well last start at this track and distance and has trialed since as ordered by the stewards. She is drawn well and should be fighting out this finish.
