(2) Cat D’Oro has always shown ability, but he’s lived up to his name a bit in that he’s had the tendency to turn it up. Has four placings from his five career starts and he returns as a gelding today, which could be the big difference.

(1) Barichello has placed in his past two starts and has only gone down by narrow margins on both occasions. Should be right in the finish again.

(4) Silly Point comes out of the same race as Barichello last start and finished just ahead of him in 2nd. The horse that beat them both then came out and ran 3rd at Rosehill on the weekend, so the form isn’t bad.

(7) Mystic Rebel has won his past couple of trials leading into his debut today and Mark Newnham runners always go well here on the Kenso. The stable hasa  27% strike rate here this season.

Tip: (2) Cat D'Oro $2.70 Ladbrokes

Value: (7) Mystic Rebel $9.00 TopSport

Betting Strategy: 1 unit WIN Cat D'Oro, 0.5 units WIN Mystic Rebel

(4) King Of Sparta resumes from a short spell today and should be very hard to beat based on what he’s done leading into this. He ran 2nd to Hilal on debut here at Randwick-Kensington, which obviously looks very good form. Went on to run into the likes of Stay Inside, Home Affairs and Paulele. Recent trials have been good, he returns as a gelding and looks the clear horse to beat.

(6) Military Expert looks the biggest danger to the favourite. He’s on debut for Annabel Neasham and Tommy Berry, coming off a good trial win at Wyong. Draws awkwardly in barrier 13 but no surprise to see him win this and will be saving on him.

(11) Mikasa trialled OK recently and can be included at double figure odds.

Will be trying to back King Of Sparta and saving on Military Expert. Take Betfair SP.

Could make a case for most of these.

(6) Rosa Moyessi goes on top. Won at Goulburn two starts ago and brought that form to town last start, losing by a pimple after sitting three-wide the trip. Draws the inside today so won’t have that problem and probably kicks up to lead. Stable goes very well here so should be hard to run down.

(5) Promise Of Success won well first up at Warwick Farm in maiden grade, but couldn’t win again when stepping up to this grade last start. Ran 3rd and wasn’t beaten far so with natural improvement will be right in the finish, but short enough at the price.

(1) Lunar Tramp drops in grade again and can be competitive.

Chances don’t end there.

I know (6) Yukon sat wide without cover the entire race first up, but he dropped out and finished a long last. He drops in grade today and gets Avdulla taking over from Andrew Adkins, so plenty of positives, but would have liked to have seen a little bit more from him first up.

For that reason I’ll be with (5) Bring The Ransom who has had two nice lead up runs to get ready for today. Both have been in Saturday grade and the horse that beat her last start then came out and won again on the weekend. Draws barrier 1 so needs some luck but should be very competitive.

Tip: (5) Bring The Ransom $3.30 Bet365

Saver: (6) Yukon $3.40 Bet365

(5) Skedaddle won here on debut and then started $1.95 first up when he sat three-wide the trip on speed. He fought on bravely to be beaten 2.15L. Draws the inside here so should be able to kick up and lead. Looks the one they all have to beat.

(3) Nikau won back-to-back races to start the prep and then ran 3rd last start at Warwick Farm on heavy ground. Can be competitive.

(9) Heart Of Siena is a blowout chance at huge odds. Didn’t get much luck first up.

(1) Hot Spring Gold next best.

(2) He’s A Hotshot probably wants a firm track but he’s got a very good third up record so at $20 isn’t the worst shot.

(4) Rustic Steel returns from a spell and did show ability last prep. Has been gelded in his time off and draws the inside here. Both career wins have come at this distance.

(11) Yangarra Rose went close first up here, then pulled up lame second up before bolting in at Kembla last start. Harder race here but is a decent chance at each way odd.

Will finish off the day with (7) Dundee Lee here. She has terrific stats for this race: three wins from five starts at the distance, one from one at the track and distance, four starts when third up for two wins and two 2nds, and five career wins on soft ground. Needs to step up in class here but gets the inside and finds a good race.

(3) O’mudgee looks the danger, coming off a placing behind Papal Warrior, who won again on the wekeend.

(8) Maccomo next best.

Tip: (7) Dundee Lee $4.50 Bet365

Betting Strategy: 1.5 units WIN Dundee Lee

A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of form analyst, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
