Just a small seven horse race to open the day here at Kensington.
(2) Jojo Was A Man goes on top after a couple of impressive trials. The first trial was very nice behind Wild Ruler who has since come out and toyed with rivals on the weekend. The second trial was just as good, if not better, as Nash Rawiller looked to the outside before swinging wide in the straight before the gelding let down with a nice bit of acceleration. Willing to side with him on the back of these two trials.
(5) Vital Verse is better than what he has showed in his previous race. I am willing to forgive that run as the pace was hot on a wet track and he wound up with poor recovery. The start before was much better and what we should be working off.
(6) Yangtze Rapids is resuming after being gelded but has had no trials. The Waller stable did this with previously and it paid dividends. Watch the betting carefully.

The two-year-old’s do battle here in the second with a couple who are debuting for the first time.
(8) Otelo isn’t one that is debuting, and his form has been pretty good. He made some solid ground at this track on debut, finishing 2.6 lengths off the winner Bourbon Flyer and only a length off Trifaccia. He was then caught wide after pushing forward from a wide draw but still fought on well to finish 3.3 lengths back in fifth. He did a great job on the day considering the obstacles and he will have less to deal with here, with a much better draw and the addition of a strong rider in Nash Rawiller. I expect the pace to be above average which will suit him based on his predicted map.
(10) Oblivion is one I expect to improve at good odds. He settled fourth behind a hot pace and peeled three wide to make his run, but his wheels were spinning on the wet ground. He gets back on top of the ground and the addition of Tommy Berry will give the punters a bit more confidence. He is a terrific each-way chance and probably would have been on top if it wasn’t from the draw.
(1) Athelric rounds out the top three and will appreciate the extra distance.
Tip: (8) Otelo $4.40

I will not be playing this race as there is a massive field with the majority having their first race start.
(7) Najmaty goes on top as she has indicated that she has some talent at the trials. In her lastest trial she showed great acceleration at the top of the straight and put to bed the trial by a decent margin. She will have the task ahead of her from the wide draw but with James McDonald booked, he should be able to give her a kind enough run before producing her in the straight.
(12) Why Doubt is another who has trialled well, and she will be the one that Najmaty will have to catch. She led her only trial this time in the entire was and saluted by over 2 lengths on the talented Swift Witness. The query is that she has only had one trial and it was over 700m and I would have liked to have seen more leading into this.
(16) Camplin is the best of the rest if she gets a run.
Tip: (7) Najmaty $3.10

This is quite an interesting race here and I believe we have found one at good odds.
(7) Egao goes on top here on the back of such a positive second-up run. She started well at Canterbury over the 1250m and pushed up from the wide draw to sit second on below average pace. She was very impressive and led the entire away until the final 100m where I think the fitness just got the better of her with all the work she did. The draw here is much better and I think she can get into a much better position just off the front runners. She is a terrific each-way chance
(5) Raoul started well and went behind the good pace to settle in fifth and followed the winner of the Black Opal Kalashnikov into the straight but was no match for him. This is much easier and should get a nice run throughout.
(8) Goddess is the best of the rest.

This is a nice little race with only a handful likely to win, but they are closer than the market predicts.
(5) Vowmaster is who I will have on top after not racing terribly in his return to racing. He started okay before being restrained back but ended up sitting wide whilst pulling. Due to this, his position was improved, and he ended up about third on the bend but started to fade from around 200m out as it clearly did too much work. With Mr Mosaic out, he looks a good bet now.
(1) Mr Mosaic is coming in with no trials but the stable generally has them ready to go first-up regardless. His first-up record is good and will likely create his own luck in front.
(3) Tinker McPhee is a NZ horse who is now with Chris Waller who has some decent form from over the ditch, with a placing at Group 2 level and a fourth at Group 1 level. She has had two trials in Australia with her second trial being the best of the two. Very keen to see how she goes.

(6) So Wicked goes on top at each-way odds as I am expecting a much better run here. Last start at Canterbury, she started well and got a nice run throughout, sitting in fourth. She was held up entering the straight and didn’t get clear until it was too late. I am expecting a midfield run here and for her to get a chance to redeem herself at nice odds.
(10) Favreau is next pick after his last start performance at Canberra. The gelding was held up around the 200m mark before getting clear to storm home. Although he didn’t beat much, it was also at a distance far short of his best. Although he does have to face that distance again, he may end up with a better pace here to bring him into the race.
(1) Archanna gets back to midweek company and back on top of the ground here which is ideal and she should come on nicely from her first-up run.

(5) Brookspire is the clear horse to beat here after being slow out last time and ending up wide throughout on a hot pace. Due to her talent, she still fought hard and finished third. She will come on nicely from the run and is drawn nicely to get an ideal run throughout. With James McDonald aboard, staying at 1400m and being back on top of the ground, anything less than a win will be a failure.
(6) Easifar is the likely rival to her stablemate but does enter this race first-up with no trials. She will likely end up on the pace and will make her own luck in-front.
(3) Express Princess is returning from her hit and run mission in Queensland where she was much too good for her Sunshine State counterparts. This is a lot tougher for her, but she should run a bold race.

(13) Blesk goes on top here on the back of a nice return first-up at Canterbury. He ended up at the rear of the field and just gave himself too much to do, going down by 1.3 lengths to the talented Equation, who has since come out and won the Canberra Guineas. He is again likely to drop back from the draw but the step up to 1400m will ensure he gets every chance to come home well, especially on the predicted Kensington bias.
(1) Exceltic hasn’t been a friend of those that have backed him especially over his last two runs. In both runs, he had finished third by less than half a length over the 1400m at Warwick Farm and 1250m at Canterbury. Back to 1400m suits here but he will have to do some work from the poor draw.
(3) Stormy Rock looks best of the rest and although he gets a 1kg swing in his favour again Blesk, I am not sure it’s going to be enough to make up for the 2.8 lengths that he lost by to him last start.
Tip: (13) Blesk $3.10
