Midway Handicap to kick things off which is always tricky.
(2) Bethencourt was ridden more forward last start and it paid dividends as he took out a similar sort of race at Canterbury. That was on a heavy 10 so he’ll handle the conditions and Nash Rawiller sticks from a good draw.
(4) Satirical Glory never really got clear first up. Has had five starts on good ground and never run a place but is one from one on soft ground so should relish these conditions.
(9) Icecrusher ran well first up and then never really got a clear crack at them last start in a similar race. Goes well in all conditions and his only start on heavy ground was a win.
(6) Moridan trialled well leading into this prep and disappointed first up but did pull up with a slow recovery. Bounced back with victory in a 3YO race at Warwick Farm last start and can be competitive in this sort of race.
Tip: (4) Satirical Glory $9.00 PlayUp
Also Backing: (9) Icecrusher $9.60 BoomBet
Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Satirical Glory, 0.5 units WIN Icecrusher

(7) Greece is a 2YO filly on debut for the Maher-Eustace stable with James McDonald booked to ride for Coolmore connections. Has won both public trials leading into this and if she’s anything like some of the stable’s other 2YO’s, we can expect a bold showing here.
(1) Russian Conquest is obviously the horse to beat. She won her first two starts before finishing off hard in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic to be beaten a nose by Coolangatta.
(2) Ojai took on the boys last start and wasn’t disgraced.
(5) Seven Veils was sound on debut and (6) Dashing Legend wasn’t far behind.

(1) Sejardan was super first up in the Inglis Millennium behind the two fillies Xtravagant and Paris Dior. He was caught off the track and still finished well to run 3rd. The form is somewhat scratchy with Xtravagant Star failing last weekend but that could have been down to the track conditions.
(4) Psychiatrist led and bolted in first up at Canterbury. There’s always a little query on horses that lead at Canterbury and then have to do it again at Randwick, but he was pretty impressive and should be measuring right up here.
(6) Richon ran 2nd to Promitto on debut and that horse then came to town and won. Can definitely be included in numbers at $26.
(8) Custodian had JMac booked last weekend but was scratched in favour of this weekend. Now gets Nash Rawiller on board and can’t be dismissed.

(4) Mightybeel was ultra-impressive in the Paramatta Cup last start and should find itself getting a similar sort of run today. Rises 3kg in the weights but the last-start win was effortless and he can win again, however this is a harder race in my opinion.
(5) Sheraz was purchased for big money from the UK. Failed in his first start in Australia in the G3 The Bart Cummings at Flemington and was put away for a spell immediately. Returned in that same race as Mightybeel last start and actually ran well to finish midfield after covering ground throughout. James McDonald on today, sure to be fitter and does get favoured track conditions.
(6) Luncies was sound first up a month ago and has two wins from three starts when second up. Can feature.
(11) No Compromise draws wide again which may prove costly.

(1) Nature Strip and (2) Eduardo meet again after clashing first up in the Lightning Stakes. It’s well documented how enormous the run of Nature Strip was after stepping slowly and then getting spat out the back. Eduardo finished back in 3rd but in hindsight they may have been better letting him roll out the front.
Nature Strip did win first up last prep before being rolled in The Shorts by Eduardo, however Eduardo was first up on that occasion rather than them both coming into this second up.
I don’t think it’s a betting race but fairly confident Nature Strip gets the job done here.

Open race.
(3) Mazu was impressive returning to the races as a gelding two weeks ago. That looks to have really made a difference and he certainly appears capable of winning a race like this.
(9) Zarastro won two from two last preparation and has won both trials leading into his first up run here. Could be popular in betting and might be a touch of value at each way odds.
(13) Sky Command is unbeaten on heavy ground. She’s been racing well against the older horses and now drops back to her own age group here.
(2) Profiteer drops out of WFA Group 1 company but he would want to improve sharply with regards to his racing manners. He proved very difficult to ride in the Lightning and wouldn’t want to repeat those antics.
Value: (9) Zarastro $7.50 Bet365

Open race the Canterbury Stakes.
(3) Private Eye comes into this first up from a spell with three trials under the belt. He’s a winner of eight of his 15 starts but he’s a horse I’ve found hard to catch. He profiles well though with three wins from four starts at the distance, as well as two wins on heavy ground from as many starts.
(8) Laws Of Indices was sound first up in the Southern Cross Stakes behind Lost And Running. I think this horse is potentially a Doncaster horse and should come on from that first up effort. All three wins have been on soft ground so should appreciate the wet conditions and has won second up previously.
James McDonald jumps off Laws Of Indices to ride (10) Lighthouse for Maher and Eustace. This horse just keeps turning up and performing. She’s had 15 starts for seven wins and five placings and she’s unbeaten on rain-affected ground. Should get a gun run and it’s rare that she’s not in the finish.
(9) Forbidden Love should have won first up when luckless behind Overpass, but she atoned for that with a dominant win here a week ago on the heavy 10. They tend to space her runs so the main query would be the fact she’s on the one-week backup.
Tip: (8) Laws Of Indices $6.00 Bet365
Also Backing: (3) Private Eye $7.00 Sportsbet
Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Laws Of Indices, 0.5 units WIN Private Eye

Great race the Randwick Guineas.
(1) Anamoe comes up $1.80 after his last-start win in the Hobartville Stakes, where he edged out Hilal with Converge back in 3rd. He’s unbeaten third up and there’s no doubting the fact he will appreciate the mile, and there’s also no doubting the fact they’ll have him cherry ripe for this Group 1 assignment as a colt. However, he got the absolute dream run last start and only just got the job done, which is cause for concern when he’s $1.80 here. He’s the horse to beat but I won’t be diving in at that quote.
(3) Hilal improved from his first up run to his second up run and the stable are up there with the best grand final trainers in the country. His record at the track and distance is good and with the barrier, he appeals as a big danger to the favourite.
(2) Converge is looking for the mile now. The big query is whether he’s as good on a Heavy 10 as he is on a Good track.

What a fascinating race this is with (1) Polly Grey carrying the full 61kg first up on a bog track. The bog track part is good because she’s an out-and-out swimmer, with all 10 career wins coming on rain-affected ground. However, she has to give all her rivals 7kg in the weights, but with that said, there isn’t a whole lot of opposition here.
(3) Arctic Thunder could be one to test her. She’s won two of her past three starts and both of those were on soft tracks. Whether that’s good enough form for this remains to be seen but at double figure odds she’s a bet.
(7) Le Gai Soleil was very good winning first up but she is a bit of a first up specialist. Wet track no problem, she should figure in the finish.

Very keen on (6) Tricky Gal each way here and I’ve made her my best of the day. She’s never missed the top two placings from five starts when first up from a spell. She’s had 13 goes on wet ground for three wins and seven placings. First up last prep she ran super behind Minhaaj, who then won again. Back in 3rd that day was Belluci Babe who she meets again here 0.5kg better at the weights, yet Belluci Babe is a $4.60 chance here while Tricky Gal is $8.50. Love her chances as a 1×3 each way bet here.
(4) Belluci Babe comes out of the Millie Fox and gets JMac on board but she’s yet to win on rain-affected ground.
(10) Never Talk hasn’t won for over a year now and while Tricky Gal hasn’t either, I think the time to back her is first up and at the prices I’d rather be with her.
Tip: (6) Tricky Gal $8.00/$2.40 Sportsbet
Betting Strategy: 1 unit WIN, 3 units PLACE Tricky Gal
