Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, June 26th

It looks a tough day at Rosehill but Billy Bestford has found a few races he is keen to bet into.

Colette-Randwick

It’s a true ‘off-season’ day of racing as Rosehill plays host to a 9-race card today. This meeting was originally set to take place at Randwick but has now been transferred due to Covid restrictions. There are strong numbers throughout which should make for plenty of good betting opportunities.

The track is currently rated a heavy 8 but with no more rain predicted we could see a slight upgrade and a soft 7 looking likely come race time. The rail is in the true position.

Best Bet: Race 7 – (10) Great House

Best Value: Race 2 – (7) Packer’s Bond

There looks to be some tough races throughout the day but read on as Billy Bestford has found a few he likes and brings you a full preview and his best bets on the card.

Tough start but I’m happy to speck (9) Imposing Beau who is still very lightly raced. Came within a whisker of making it two wins in three career starts last time out and gets well down in the weights today. Looks progressive and won’t need to be a star to win this.

(8) Zorocat can lead these up and looks suited back in grade after finishing less than a length off Nicci’s Fling last start. Thinking the on speed horses might have an advantage with the rail out today and she will give a sight.

(6) Seleque flies fresh and has a good strike rate, only missing the placings twice in eight career starts.

(7) Queen Bellissimo just keeps winning and puts herself up on speed and is hard to knock. Just needs to handle the step up to this level.

(7) Packers Bond looks ready to fire here after a big run first up over 1200m. Below his best towards the end of last prep but last start was encouraging and he’s been a winner 2nd up in the past. Happy to find out how well he is going at the $10+.

(6) Monterey Zar is a tough on-speed horse who is very consistent. Yet to miss the trifecta in six career starts and gets in nice and light today after Tyler Schiller’s claim. Will look the winner at some stage.

Really liked the win of (10) Orbital Express in maiden grade last start over 1200m. Looks to have upside and this race looks within reach.

(3) The Drover ran 2nd in a recent Highway here and has been in flying form. Often see horses go close in a Highway and then run well again the next time they come to town so he looks a big winning chance.

You’d struggle to find a more uninspiring field of runners than what we have here in this 3200 bm90. Kaapfever the last of these to win a race, which was almost 6 months ago.

(1) Sweet Thomas actually won this race last year on a wet track and arguably is in better form in the lead up this year. Isn’t getting any younger however but will stay all day.

(6) Terwilliker can pull out a surprise run here and there and this race looks one of those. Gets through the conditions and races well at Randwick. Has been improving every run this prep.

(4) Kaapfever as mentioned the most recent winning form in the race but has to be a query at the trip and looks short enough for mine.

(5) Feel The Rush loves it wet and will only carry 50kg after the jockey claim. Is the young blood in the race and is a definite winning chance.

Good luck if your having a punt in this one. With zero confidence whatsoever the topweight goes on top for me.

(4) Zing has been costly this prep but is yet to run a bad race, filling the minor money in all three starts. Beaten less than a length in her last two and rarely runs a bad race. Will enjoy the sting out of the ground and this race doesn’t look to have too much depth. Providing she can run the trip, she will be winning.

(1) So Wicked has been airborne at the midweekers and finds Tim Clark today. Should roll forward and give a good sight and could easily get away with this.

Thought the ex-kiwi (12) Meg could get away with this after bolting in at her second Australian start last time out. Has to handle the step up in grade today but she loves this trip, gets way down in the weights and will get through the conditions. She’ll only have to lump 49kg after the apprentice claim, dropping 6.5kg from last start and happy to have her on top in an open race.

(4) Sarodec continues to defy the market, with all three wins now coming at double figure odds. Was aided by the way the track was playing last start but rolls forward and always gives a strong kick. The wetter the better for him.

(3) Wairere Falls is on the quick backup after finishing 2nd to Oscar Zulu last week. Should be primed to perform now 4th up out to the mile and deserves a win this prep.

(8) Threeood was a huge run for 3rd in the Helen Coughlan Stakes when first up in QLD. She was $61 that day and only finished 1L off Exhilarates. Only needs to take natural improvement from that to be in with a big chance today and looks suited getting to 1400m now.

(9) Fender strung two good wins together before an unlucky run in a strong G3 up north last start. Has had a nice trial in between runs and six wins from 10 starts is nothing to sneeze at. Loves wet.

(3) Bandersnatch has been building to a big run this prep and looks ready to win 3rd up today. Hasn’t missed the quinella in four third up runs previously and the lead is there for him to take.

(1) Rainier is the class of the field and comes into this after a narrow win the Wayne Wilson. Dropping back to 1400m some query but has been going well.

(10) Great House was extremely good when winning fresh at Rosehill over a trip short of his best. There was so much to like off the back of that run, and I am keen to be with him now out to 1800m. Draws perfectly in gate 6 and is 2/2 second up. Hard to knock.

(5) Mubariz looks the main danger and is flying this prep. Two straight wins over this trip were impressive. Back in grade but up in the weights however has been a winner 4th up previously and handles all conditions.

(1) Opacity was a very good winner when 3rd up in stronger grade than he faces today. The 3kg claim for Tyler Schiller is a massive positive and his best can easily win.

(2) Canasta deserves a win after two straight 2nd to start the prep. Was only run down late last start by Cisco Bay and you’d imagine he will now be at peak fitness 3rd up today. Clark takes the ride and he’s the best in the business on these front-runnig types.

(5) Ulysses was massive fresh behind Gravina when running the second fastest last 200m of the entire meeting. Should only improve off that and hes best performances have come with a run under his belt.

(15) Bluff ‘n’ Bluster is a much better horse 2nd up and this is his pet distance with 2 wins and a 2nd from three attempts. Was solid when fresh and maps for a nice run here today. Looks the value.

Good luck if your riding something home here in the quaddie. Could make a case for just about everything in the race.

(8) Perigord flies fresh and has been trialling well in the lead up to today. Gets through the wet and has been competitive in these types of races in the past. 1100m is his best trip and looks a good each-way bet in a wide open race.

(6) Hulk doesn’t help himself with the way he races but continues to run on strongly to fill the placings without winning this prep. Looks ready to win now and with even luck he’ll be going close.

(13) Destination split Wild Ruler and Forbidden Love last prep which looks pretty handy form for a race like this! Has flashed ability and both career wins have come when first up.

(9) Switched can improve on a wet track and dropping back to 1100, while (10) Triple Ace is yet to miss the trifecta in seven career starts and has been trialling well for his return.

Betting Strategy: No Bet

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
