Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 9th

Racing at Sale on Wednesday and Trent Crebbin is looking for the mudders with heavy rain predicted.

sale racing tips

Midweek racing at Sale on Wednesday, and the big talking point is how much rain the meeting is going to get.

The track is currently rated a soft 6 but with plenty more rain we could be on a heavy track during the meeting.

Trent Crebbin has gone looking for ducks and is making his best value bet an $8.50 chance in Race 8.

Best Bet – Race 2 (11) The Art Of Flying

Best Value – Race 8 (6) Frankly Harvey

For some extra value today, jump on board with PlayUp where you’ll get a bonus bet refund up to $50 if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd for Races 1-4 at Sale. Terms and conditions apply.

(8) Debullet has a 2nd placing at this T/D on a heavy track so looks a good starting point. That was 3rd up and she comes here 3rd up after a good first up run behind Inka Dinka and Fac, which reads very well. Her run last start was just fair but not much made ground there. Draws better here and should go close.

(6) Raid The Bar beat Debullet home last start but did have a better run on speed and started $51 to her $6 and now they’re almost the same price.

(2) Be Curious is ticking along okay but the wet is a query.

Very low race, but I think Debullet sets up quite well here.

(11) The Art Of Flying clearly has the best form in the race. The debut run was solid and then he was only 2.8L off Anamoe in Merson Cooper. His debut was on a soft 7 so conditions should be okay, or at least not a complete negative, and the jumpout since being gelded was good. If Melham doesn’t go right back to last and finds cover, he should be winning.

(1) Arentee looks to get map favours over the exposed horse. His jumpouts have been good and a wet track looks okay from breeding.

(16) Gulf Of Aden was okay on debut in Sydney and has jumped out nicely since.

(3) Forged has jumped out okay and draws well.

(10) Veranskova looks the obvious but is far too short. The debut run behind Written Miss in a bm70 reads very well and the jumpouts have been good. A heavy track is unknown so I definitely wouldn’t be diving in at $1.45.

(5) The Black Panther was excellent first up last prep, hitting the line well behind Martini Special. He was outclassed behind Sisstar at Ballarat, but to be beaten less than 6L by that horse when still a maiden is a very good effort. Once again, a heavy track is unknown and he’s changed stables.

Unless both completely flop in the heavy I’d expect one of the two to win.

(6) Stonefield had a let up leading into last run on a heavy track and probably should’ve won after being held up and just missing from the back. That was on a heavy track so any rain should be fine, the step up in trip helps and he should settle closer here.

The cleverly named (3) Eurellydidit, trained by Greg Eurell, was beaten 8L by Four Leaf Riot on a heavy track on debut. That horse was well backed and ran well on Saturday at Flemington and the step up in trip suits.

(11) Modern Legend has been good in two runs, both on soft tracks, and was beaten by a handy horse in Sly Corner at Cranbourne.

(9) Finch ‘n’ Chips next best, he ran 2nd to Yulong Impact two back on a heavy track and that horse is well respected in the market later.

The best wet tracker in the field is (1) Heir To The Throne and if we are in the heavy range by now he’ll be hard to beat. I quite liked his run last start at Cranbourne behind Chequerboard beaten 2.1L on a good track, but the query is the gap between runs which isn’t ideal if this turns into a slog.

(3) Prince Alby is another good wet tracker that should run well. He’s been building nicely this prep and a win looks close. He gets Zahra on which is a big positive and might have the better grounding for a heavy track staying race, dropping back in drip from 2580m.

(4) Slipintothis is racing very well but is another with a gap between runs (5 weeks) and a heavy track probably isn’t as advantageous for him as it is the other two.

(5) Pharrell loves this T/D and is fine on wet tracks but he might be past it the old boy.

Filthy I missed the $1.90+ about (1) I’m Thunderstruck because he should be putting these away. His debut win at Caulfield was excellent, charging late to beat Palace Whisper who looked home, and he was well backed to start $4.60 in the Autumn Stakes against Poland and Amish Boy in an absolutely brutally run race, finishing 2.9L away in 5th. He hasn’t seen a heavy track but did trial in NZ on a very heavy deck and class should see him winning here. I’d be happy to back at $1.80 but now at $1.50 he might be going through to the keeper.

(6) Red On Red isn’t bad on wet tracks and was caught wide without cover last start when well backed. He could be a value quinella play if so inclined.

(4) Turin Warrior is a query on a heavy track but going okay and looks ready to peak 3rd up.

It’ll need to be into the heavy range but if it is, (4) Cash For Diamonds is going to run well. She’s an outstanding wet tracker with 4 wins from 6 starts, and she finally showed a glimpse of form last start after two awful runs at Sandown on good tracks where she barely goes a yard.

(5) Facemask loves getting rolled when in the market and I’m not keen to dive in at $2.25. He gets blinkers on which might help but draws the carpark again and has had plenty of chances.

(2) Brasada has never seen anything wetter than a soft 5 which was last start and he ran well, coming from an impossible position to run 3rd in a stronger race. Step up in trip looks good, it’s just whether he handles any rain.

Nice little race to finish. (6) Frankly Harvey is another that loves wet tracks and looks good value here. He was run down at The Bool two back by Over The Sky, who has won again since, but was beaten 7L last start by Nikau Spur. That was on a good 4 and getting onto a wet track will help, given he’s never missed a place from 10 starts on heavy tracks.

(9) Yulong Impact has plenty of upside coming off a Moe maiden win on a heavy track. Gets Zahra on and draws well so there’s plenty to like.

(8) Skywolf is racing consistently and will be right there on speed.

(14) Show Some Decorum doesn’t mind it wet and his last two starts on heavy tracks have both been solid.

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
