8. Stavanger (1) J: Jye Mcneil (56kg) T: Michael & Wayne & John Hawkes
8.58.57.4

(5) Cateechee was very good behind The Globe first up, just missing after running the fastest last 400m of the meeting. Out to 1300m looks ideal and he’s the one to beat.

(7) Grinzinger Queen has won a trial for her first up run. She’s been a bit hit and miss in her career but was only 1L off Cateechee when they met lest prep.

(1) Matsukaze got quite keen on debut and can definitely improve off that.

(8) Stavanger is another that has shown talent and might improve this prep.

Tip: (5) Cateechee- $2.50 at Sportsbet

Betting Strategy: 1 unit WIN Cateechee

11. Recourse (1) J: Liam Riordan (57kg) T: Simon Zahra
12. Savonia (12) J: Damien Oliver (57kg) T: Leon & Troy Corstens
32.83.05

Good maiden. (8) Prix De Turn has the form that jumps off the page. His effort first up at group 2 level was solid despite finishing 8th of 9, beaten 5.5L by Golden Rose placegetter Coastwatch. His only 2nd up run he ran 7th in a very fast Caulfield Guineas and he should be very hard to beat back to maiden grade.

(12) Savonia is fit and racing fairly well but has had plenty of chances and been beaten in easier maidens.

(6) Man Of Heart has been gelded for his first up run but does get blinkers off. He took on some strong races last prep and is well placed in a maiden.

Tip: (8) Prix De Turn- $2.90 at Bet365

Betting Strategy: 2 units WIN Prix De Turn

9. Spirit Of Gold (9) J: Jamie Kah (56kg) T: Peter Moody
3.63.53.45

(6) Minola will appreciate the 2400m now 4th up. She’s up in grade but this isn’t a very strong bm70 and she drops to 56.5kg. I thought she ran okay last start when well supported in a decent bm64 and with Allen on from a wide gate I can see her getting a nice trail.

(9) Spirit Of Gold drops heavily in grade from listed level which has her as favourite. They went very slowly there so I think she was flattered but she’s racing well and a good chance.

(3) Laundy went too slowly in front last start in my opinion but the 2400m is a query- both runs at the trip have been suspect.

Tip: (6) Minola- $11.00/3.20 at Sportsbet

Betting Strategy: 0.25/0.75 units E/W Minola

313129
9. Snakey Mag (4) J: Brian Park (57.5kg) T: G & P Dalziel
3.93.93.45

(5) Fire has been well backed first up. He’s progressive and taken on some stronger races than this so that’s not a shock. He’s jumped out well, just 1000m being a touch on the sharp side was my query and now into $1.80 I’m happy to let him go.

(1) The Running Man is racing well and outside the favourite this looks easier than his last few, although he does have the 62kg.

(9) Snakey Mag won well on debut and can measure up.

Tip: (5) Fire- $1.85 at TAB

997.9
8. Northern Melody (1) J: Damian Lane (58.5kg) T: M J Ellerton
5.55.55.6

(2) Dancelittlesister ran very well first up off the back of a good trial. The $1.85 favourite kicked up on the inside and they went out quite hard, with the favourite dropping out to be beaten 4.5L. Dancelittlesister stuck on well for 2nd and should be fitter.

(1) Tycoon Humma didn’t come up last prep but has trialled leading into this prep and whilst she had to be ridden out she did close well for 2nd behind Profiteer in her most recent hit out. Her best 2yo form would see her hard to beat.

(3) Royal Dress was the $1.85 favourite behind Dancelittlesister. The SP has to stand for something and she does get a tongue tie on which may help her settle.

Tip: (2) Dancelittlesister- $5.50 at Sportsbet

Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Dancelittlesister

8. Night Of Delight (2) J: Will Price (55kg) T: R Griffiths & M De Kock
777.1

(5) Animatu has been freshened and jumped out very well since over some handy horses. She looks a decent chance in an open race and her best is good enough to win this.

(1) Little Stevie dropped back to 1000m last start and ran very well at The Valley. She stays at the 1000m and I thought she might be better over a bit further but she has to be respected.

(3) Madam Bolli was good first up and has run very well in this grade and above in the past. There will be pressure here but she doesn’t have to lead.

Tip: (5) Animatu- $7.50 at TAB

Also Backing: (3) Madam Bolli- $4.20 at PlayUp

Betting Strategy: 0.5 units WIN Animatu, 0.5 units WIN Madam Bolli

12. Be Miss Luchy (1) J: Alana Kelly (54kg) T: K J Fythe

Have made (2) Sir Davy my best bet of the day. I liked his run first up at Pakenham behind Yulong Code who is fit and flying, running home well for 3rd. 2nd up last prep he was probably the run of the race behind the handy Sensationalisation before beating Logan Street Lion who is easily Saturday class. Up to 1300m suits and he’ll be hard to hold out.

(8) Stretto is a handy horse when right and he’s jumped out well off a gelding operation. This is his first start for Maher/Eustace and Kah is booked so there’s plenty to suggest he’ll be ready to go first up.

Tip: (2) Sir Davy- $3.00 at Sportsbet

55.54.7
10. Ocean's Jen (6) J: Matthew Cartwright (55kg) T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace
3.53.43.55

(2) Muswellbrook seems a big price. He doesn’t win out of turn but this is an easier race than his last couple. He was solid when making a wide run last start behind Zoltan, and the start prior behind High ’n’ Dry and Unanimous in record time was rock solid. Barrier 1 isn’t ideal but at $21 he’s not hopeless.

(4) Beehunter has a big finish on his day and showed it last start at Pakenham, getting the better of Yulong Code and Shotmaker which has been franked. Now to 1400m where he’s run okay in the past without raving.

(1) Think ’n’ Fly wasn’t sharp enough first up at 1100m and has a strong 2nd up record, however 1400m is potentially too short again and he’d improve at the mile.

(10) Ocean’s Jen gets in with 53kg after winning two straight and looks well placed to win again up in grade.

Tip: (2) Muswellbrook- $21.00/4.80 at TAB

Betting Strategy: 0.25/0.5 units E/W Muswellbrook

Trent’s interest in the thoroughbred started out as a spark with Black Caviar, became a flame with Winx, and has now intensified into a burning obsession with Arcadia Queen. He started out throwing loose change on random trifectas at the pub, but it wasn’t long before he was watching replays and looking at sectionals, weights and markets. Trent specializes in Victorian racing and hopes his first winner as an owner is just around the corner.
