As you would expect from a feature event, this race is wide open, and I am willing to play a couple with an aim for a nice result.

(8) Takissacod is coming off a nice all the way victory in the Corowa Cup and she looks to get a similar set-up here. She will no doubt head forward from barrier 9 and look to set the tone for this race. She drops 1kg from her last start win and even though she drops some kilos against some key opposition, they aren’t ideally drawn plus they have had negative jockey changes. She is nice and fit and another crack at the mile is ideal. She is a nice price for a mare who will make her own luck.

(9) Bells Innocent gets another trainer change and I thought it was interesting the Blaike McDougall is riding this son of Bel Esprit. He was very poor in the Echuca Cup but if you look at his previous start at Moonee Valley, you know he is capable of better. I am expecting a much better run in transit as they are likely to sit closer in the run from the ideal barrier. With solid form in the past over 1500m here at Albury, I think the mile poses no issues, but it will take a peach from McDougall to get him over the line.

(14) Gottalovetrucks meets Takissacod a kilo worse off at the weights but the son of Camelot had excuses last start in the Corowa Cup. He came home nicely despite sitting three wide the trip to finish just under two lengths in third after sitting midfield. He is another one who should be able to sit in a more forward position from a decent barrier and with him being Donna Scott’s lone runner in one of her hometown features, I expect him to perform well. He is a massive price, and he can run a huge race.

Happy to back (12) Bautista who last start at Wagga performed above expectations to qualify for the Country Championships final. John Kissick put the Magnus gelding in the perfect position and looked the winner on the post only to be pipped by the promising Another One. The under-rated Teodore Nugent gets the ride but he will be given a task from the wide barrier, but I do expect them to head forward and play for luck to try and get into with some cover. I think he is a top chance if he gets the right circumstances and I think the price is based around his draw rather than ability. Happy to bet small in the hopes that we get the right luck.
