Group 1 racing today at Randwick with the George Main Stakes headlining a blockbuster meeting.
The feature is supported by some mouthwatering support races, notably the G2 The Shorts which sees a number of Everest contenders clash ahead of next month’s $15million sprint.
The G3 Bill Ritchie Handicap, G2 Tea Rose Stakes and G3 Kingston Town Stakes also feature on the 10-race card.

The market here is likely to change on Saturday morning as we are expecting the short-priced favourite (11) Nadaraja to be scratched.
We found the Highway winner last weekend but I’ll be going back to sitting out this week.
(1) Ahead Start has shown plenty of ability in his five starts to date, which includes three wins, one of which was in a Highway last preparation. JMac booked today is a positive lead and I’d be looking for a big run from him fresh.
The same goes for (2) Leo who gets Bowman booked first up on the back of a couple of decent trials. He won a Highway first up last preparation and he has two wins from three starts at this track and distance.

There’s a few real suspects here.
(4) Bigboyroy comes up favourite and gets absolutely everything in his favour with JMac back on from barrier 1. He definitely gets his chance but he’s had his chance all prep and continues to come up short.
(5) Kiss The Bride hasn’t been far away in two starts this prep. Should be ready third up now but he’s never won below 1800m.
(1) New Arrangement actually appeals at each way odds. Ran 2nd behind Mirra Vision two starts ago and that form has stood up in the Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle on Friday. Last start just got too far back but did run the fastest final 600m of the race.
(8) Kordia steps up in grade after winning last start.

The only two I could get near here in the Midway were (4) Bowery Breeze and (2) Foxborough.
Bowery Breeze won first, put in a good effort in defeat second up and then didn’t get a huge amount of luck last time out. Gets a soft track and a good draw here so should be competitive if she is at her best.
Foxborough ran 2nd two starts ago but I don’t think she handled the quick backup last start. She’s had three weeks between runs now so should be fresh and from the good draw she can be ridden more prominently.

(9) Super Effort is flying this preparation with two wins and two 2nds from four starts. Both runs in defeat have been very good and he should get his chance again from a midfield draw here.
(5) High Supremacy is a horse I have a bit of time for. I don’t think he is a 2000m horse. Unsure what he’s going to do first up here but I think he has the quality to win.
(10) Suave gets JMac booked first up from a year off the track and he elects to ride that horse over three of Waller’s, which is generally a good lead.

Big interest in this Irish import (2) Numerian who gets James McDonald booked straight away for Annabel Neasham. This reminds me a bit of Zaaki when he made his Australian debut in the Doncaster. Not that I think this horse is anywhere as good but it catches my eye that he resumes over 1400m and McDonald goes straight on.
(3) Aramayo went in my horses to follow file after his terrific first up run for Chris Waller, but he might not appreciate the wet track here.
(11) Atishu was just enormous in defeat last start after settling in an impossible position. Can be further forward from the low draw here and atone for last start.
(12) Harmony Rose is 2/2 first up and 2/2 on soft ground. This stable normally has them ready to go first up.
(5) Private Eye was run off his legs last start but gets up in distance and the blinkers go back on today.

Impossible to back any of these fillies, who just seem to take turns winning. There’s no standout in the three-year-old fillies division at the moment.
(3) She’s All Class went into the Furious Stakes with just one quiet trial under the belt. She was firm in betting but only managed a midfield finish. JMac sticks today and she gets soft track conditions, which is where her best form has been prior to this.
(4) Mallory hasn’t had any luck in her first two starts this prep, held up badly first up before sitting three-wide the trip last start. Draws the inside here – where she gets to in the run is some concern but she’s come back in good order.
(5) Robodira next best.

I think this is a two-horse race.
(7) Verry Elleegant was super first up in the Winx Stakes, sitting three-wide the trip and only being run down by Mo’unga. Her second up record is outstanding, she gets wet ground here and a good draw in barrier 2.
(2) Think It Over has proven himself as a genuine Group 1 horse in his past two preparations. He didn’t get much luck in that Winx Stakes first up behind Verry Elleegant and Mo’unga, but he atoned with victory in the Chelmsford Stakes last start. His effort to run down Riodini was very good. Has never finished out of the top two from four attempts when third up from a spell so he’ll be spot on.

Now this is an impossible betting race, but what a spectacle we have.
(1) Nature Strip returned at his brilliant best first up in the Concorde, bolting in despite stepping slightly slow and having to do some work. The little concern is the amount of speed on here as well as the fact he was run down second up last preparation.
(2) Eduardo is the horse that ran him down and he was first up on that occasion. He then went to 1100m second up and bolted in. His record on wet ground is also outstanding and he can’t be discounted.
(3) Gytrash also beat Nature Strip first up last preparation. That was over 1000m. His first up record is outstanding, with four wins and three placings from seven starts. Draws the inside, sits off the speed and should be very strong late.
(4) Masked Crusader pulled off one of the biggest wins you’ll see first up in Melbourne. This is obviously a much harder task but he’s turned into a serious horse now and if they overdo it up front, he’ll be launching late.
(5) Rothfire is the big unknown in the race, returning from injury after starting $1.60 in the Golden Rose. His trials have been scintillating but he finds an extremely hot race to return to here and race pressure is different to trials. He could well blow them away though.
(7) Lost And Running is the new kid on the block. He’s only a Listed winner so this is a huge step up in class for him but horses don’t trial any better than what he did the other day when going to the line with Classique Legend.

(3) Montefilia went in my horses to follow file after her first up run behind Think It Over and Riodini. Think It Over is a live chance of winning another Group 1 today and she finished off really well behind him. Drawn wide today but Bowman sticks, she gets up to 2000m and she should be right in this.
(5) Shared Ambition settled right on the speed despite the notification that they were going to ride him cold last start. He has a good record at 2000m and goes particularly well second up so include him at double figure odds.
(2) Kukeracha gets JMac on again despite his ordinary run last start. He’ll win a good race this prep.

Saving my best of the day til last here with (12) Equation who returns to the races today as a winner of four from five starts. He was last seen winning the Canberra Guineas and they obviously hope he can go on to be a bigger and better horse given he’s still a colt. JMac booked fresh for Annabel Neasham, he can roll forward and be very hard to beat.
