The Listed Digger’s Cup and the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic headline racing at Ascto on Saturday and Tim Geers has previewed the card below.

Ascot hosts a nine-race card on Saturday, headlined by the Listed Digger’s Cup and the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic.

The first is set to jump at 11.48am local time, with the track rated a Good 4 and the rail in the true position.

Tim Geers has assessed every race on the card below with his tips and betting strategy.

How this race takes place on a Saturday boggles the mind.

(2) Platinum Label was OK resuming from a spell at Pinjarra, beaten less than half-a-length. The step up in distance looks to suit and should be competitive in a race like this.

The value could be (5) Boyohboy Wowee at $21. He sat three-wide the trip first up at Pinjarra in that same race and was only beaten 3.2L. Soft draw today and can improve.

(4) Blackwater Bay resumes from a spell for Adam Durrant and William Pike today and looks hard to beat. The stable had a treble midweek and this horse remains unexposed having had just the five career starts.

(5) Trisuem is racing well and wasn’t far away last start when she was held up slightly late. Prior to that she won over this track and distance.

(3) Friar’s Fantasia isn’t far off a win and draws the inside.

(8) Flying Missile is the one to beat here. Resumed with a dominant win first up before finishing 3.5L off Ex Sport Man in the G2 Karrakatta Plate. Big drop in class here and Chris Parnham sticks with.

(9) Astrape has plenty of talent and creates interest resuming from a spell. Parnham is the go-to rider for Dan Morton so it’s notable that he sticks with Flying Missile rather than Astrape.

(1) Ain’t No Other Man has done nothing wrong in two starts back from a spell, but I have a query around the form out of those races compared to that of Flying Missile.

Hard to see past (3) Tycoon Storm here. She’s two from two since returning from a break and she gets a 1.5kg weight swing on Watch Me Dance today, who she beat last start. Has a terrific record at this distance and with even luck looks the most likely winner.

(2) Watch Me Dance wasn’t suited dropping back to 1200m against the likes of Clairvoyance last start. Back up to 1400m will suit.

(1) Cryptic Love next best, also suited back up to 1400m.

(2) Kaptain Kaos continues to handle everything thrown at him, winning three on the bounce this prep. He now steps up to 1400m for the first time, but the way he’s been finishing off suggests he should be able to handle that. Chris Parnham elects to stick with him and from the soft draw, he’s the one to beat.

(4) Phanta was last seen running in the WA Guineas. His run leading into that in the Fairetha Stakes was good. First up today, he should kick up from the inside gate and I think he’s the value in the race at $8.00.

(9) Stellar Vista went down at short odds last start but has done little wrong in three career starts. Parnham elects to go with Kaptain Kaos today so Pike picks up the ride for Simon Miller. Will be finishing hard.

(3) Fiery Bay next best.

Happy to sit this one out.

(7) Panzdown comes up favourite after an easy firs tup win at Bunbury, but he didn’t beat much and it was a weak race.

(3) City Circle broke through for a deserved win last start but this is a harder race. With that said, she’s been racing well all prep and draws barrier 1 which is a big plus.

(1) King’s Authority rarely runs a bad race. His only failure this prep was when he sat three-wide the trip. Gets a senior jockey on for the first time this preparation so expect him to run well again at each way odds.

(6) Drinkwhatyoulike was good first up. Does have a poor second up record but is with a different stable this prep.

Think it’s time to get on (1) Not To Be Mist today. He was very good last start in 78+ company, recording the fastest final 400m of the entire meeting. Drops back to 72+ company today and Pike goes on for the first time this prep. He’ll be hitting the line hard.

(6) Creator won well last start and now steps up in class to a 72+. Continues to improve and should be in the finish.

(10) Cockyjoy has had excuses in his past two starts but did run 3^rd behind Tycoon Storm three starts ago. Draws the inside and should improve.

(2) Trap For Fools drops back from 2300m to 1800m and gets the blinkers back on. He’s weighted well in this grade with 62kg so he’ll take plenty of catching.

(7) Mackenzie Brooke flashed home first up over the mile and would have won with another stride. She did a similar thing first up last prep before racing a touch flat second up, so that’s the query, but she did kick off over 2200m last prep, whereas she started over the mile this time in. She’ll get the pace to suit.

(6) That’s Funny Az is looking to make it five wins straight and draws well in barrier 2.

(8) Marocchino is also flying.

I thought (4) Tinsnip had its chance over the shorter trip last start so will oppose him today, even with Pike going on.

(2) Bogart is racing well. Draws wide in barrier 11 but didn’t get any luck behind the in-form That’s Funny Az last start and prior to that ran 2^nd to the same horse.

(7) No Apology sat three-wide the trip last start and still managed to run 5^th. Prior to that he beat Koranis who then came out and won twice.

One day (13) Trump This will be put into a race – whether that’s today is a query given she’s drawn barrier 13, but she has a big finish on her and $31 is over the odds.

He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne.
