Racing heads to the nation’s capital to round out the working week. Canberra will host a good 8 race card and Billy Bestford has done the form and is looking to have a few bets in races 3 and 5.

Best Bet: Race 5 – (5) Himiko

The track is currently rated a good 4 and the rail is out 7 metres. There looks to be sunny weather forecast and plenty of good racing so lets dive in and find a few winners!

Topweight (1) Kibosh looks hardest to beat off the back of a good 2nd last start. Will only strip fitter from that and the step to 1200m looks a positive. Stable is flying lately and this race looks a nice way to break her maiden.

(6) Sojo makes her debut on the back of a strong trial win. Looks a horse with a bit of talent and the current $8.50 looks value.

(13) Sifu continues to race well but is struggling to win one. Hard to leave out of the numbers following two straight 2nds at this track.

Thought (5) Himiko was the one to beat returning to a class 1 after taking on the Adrian Knox at Randwick. Was out of depth there but far from disgraced and now looks well suited in a race like this. Should be ready to peak 3rd up.

(11) Timasti isn’t the worst hope at a big price. Has been working towards a peak performance and has only been improving every start. Now gets out to 2000m, gets in light and can run a place.

(2) Mossy Oak is another who will enjoy stepping up to this trip for the first time. Was picking up well late last start over the mile and gets the in form Blaike Mcdougall on board. Looks a winning chance.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
