(1) Baby Wong, while still being a maiden, looks the class runner of this field and resumes today after tackling some very strong races up north last prep. Was last seen taking on the 2yo Magic Millions where he finished midfield. Finished half a length off Alpine Edge before that and this looks his easiest task to date.

(9) Sweet Ruby looks the main danger after a dominant maiden win last start at Muswellbrook. Looks a progressive horse for Kim Waugh and will take some catching from the low draw today.

The feature race of the day comes up here in the $200,000 Tamworth Cup. I’m leaning towards (8) Total Recall who was very impressive fresh over 1400m and now drops in weight and finds champion jocket Crag Williams. This is Williams only ride for the day as he makes a rare trip to Tamworth. Should have options from the gate and is a strong performer with a run under his belt. Should only improve off that last start win and looks a great chance today.

Not sure where he’s going to get to in the run but (2) Two Big Fari can win this with even luck. Is as tough as they come and won’t know himself today dropping 6kg (!) off his last start. Is a strong performer 2nd up and returns to a track where he has plenty of success. The stable will have him as fit as any horse in this race and looks a good winning chance with some luck from the draw.

(1) Wren’s Day is an honest horse having not missed the quinella in his last 6 starts. Looks to have come back in good order with two strong performances up in QLD and you’d expect him to be in the finish.

No real prizes for finding him but (2) Ice In Vancouver looks the best bet of the day and I am keen to load up. Pulled up with cardiac Arrhythmia in The Kosciusko but his form prior to that showed he is a top line horse, especially in this sort of grade. Has since trialled like a jet, running away an 8L winner and looks to have come back in top order. Gets in well with Dylan Gibbons claim and should be too good for these.

Billy Bestford

Billy has been an avid racing fan ever since he and a few mates started a punters club once they turned 18. Following the initial punters clubs, he was properly hooked after landing a nice collect on Admire Rakti in the 2014 Caulfield Cup and has had a soft spot for Japanese horses ever since. Is a massive fan of 'blinkers first time' and has been known to enjoy a 'Hail Mary' multi. Loves punting across metro Sydney and Melbourne every Saturday but isn't scared to venture West late in the day to find a Pikey special.
